to think my neighbours should not dump their household rubbish in my bin!

Where I live, the bins are collected on a Weds mroning. If you aren't quick enough to get it back in your garden, some bloody moron puts their stinking rubbish in it. Haven't quite worked out who yet but it dismays me when the bin men have been to open up the bin to see it half full again of someone elses crap! Which they don't even bother to tie up in the bag so it spills it's contents in the bin.

The worst thing is now that my actual bin is gone! I pay to have the damn thing cleaned by the bin cleaners every fortnight so it's all nice and hygenic and some b@stard has taken it, removing my house number sticker and placing it on an absolutely filthy bin!

God I feel like setting up a cctv circuit to watch the back lane!

So bloody selfish - those who are doing this are clearly complete trash themselves if they think it's OK to dump their crap on other people!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That's terrible! I would be going with the CCTV idea!

Thediaryofanobody · 02/04/2010 16:42

fifitot You sound like you could almost be my neighbor we have the same set up/problems. The first time our bin disappeared it turned up outside our back garden gate after a week the second time it went we contacted council they gave us another bin, but they wouldn't do it until we had reported it to the police. Talk about wasting police time!

damnedchilblains · 02/04/2010 16:44

Urrghhh I hate that, Once my bin was in my garden and somebody came in to dump their rubbish, their was me banging on the window like a flipping lunatic! I've also had someone coming in to take rubbish out .

venusonarockbun · 02/04/2010 16:52

Fifi - its our recycling bags that go missing. Weve had to obtain three replacements. But the funny thing is that every time one of ours went missing - the family over the road seemed to gain one.

fifitot · 02/04/2010 16:58

It's unbelievable isn't it? Thing is without knowing exactly who it is I am powerless to change it - I will have to set up outside the back gate and pounce when I see them.

Can you tape a big sign to the inside of the bin lid? STOP DUMPING YOUR STINKING RUBBISH IN MY BIN, YOU BASTARD

BuzzingNoise · 02/04/2010 17:16

I second the sign idea.

fifitot · 02/04/2010 17:57

oooh yes I will try the sign! Even if it doesn't work it will make me feel better and I will use those exact words too!

Thankyou!

YANBU.

Our neighbours did this to us once, and several envelopes with their name and address were included in the rubbish they dumped so we knew it was them. I took the rubbish back to them.

Web cam out of the window - most of them have software you can leave running to take a still picture every 30 seconds or so.

That's how I caught next door's dog pooping in my garden...

my parents neighbour started dumping their rubbish in my mum's bin so my dad (who is 75) took it out and left it on their front door step with a wee note attached that said "i found this in my bin and i think it belongs to you"
after that they didn't have the brass neck to try it again.

pjmama · 02/04/2010 20:15

SugarMousePink - you're far more reasonable than me! I wouldn't bother with the re-bagging, I'd just tip it out onto their step.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/04/2010 20:19

Can you not rig some sort of pop-up halloween style ghoul to "pop" out when the bin lid is lifted. And then catching it all on CCTV of course!!

groundhogs · 02/04/2010 20:42

I second "Can you tape a big sign to the inside of the bin lid? STOP DUMPING YOUR STINKING RUBBISH IN MY BIN, YOU BASTARD"

and raise it with a

"Smile you are on CCTV"

Some good ideas - thanks.

Like SugarMousePInk - we are a bit anal about recycling so we often do have a bit of spare capacity in the bin as the recyclable stuff is off to the recycling centre. These lot put all sorts of crap in there.

I am glad people agree that it is unacceptable behaviour. When I mentioned it to another neighbour he just shrugged and said 'it's all rubbish'. However wait until charging comes in - then he might be more worried!

my neighbours do this...and we pay by weight! The last 3 tenants of the house next to me have done it....this lot are going to regret it, I tell you.
