As I can't stand working in the environment - with the people, practises and behaviours that exist there - back-stabbing, shafting, taking credit incorrectly for work that they haven't spear-headed....oh yes, by the way, I work with a load of finance people....in the city...what would you do? mortgage and usual commitments make this thing that I do called work - feel like torture!!

Quit. Sell the house if need be.

Life too short for this kind of bollocks. Stress like that is as damaging to your health as smoking or being obese.

Agree with amber1979. Sometimes I think about myself back in my twenties sticking out jobs where I was really unhappy because "thats what you DO" and I am like this at myself.

Even the Guardian Career Advisor in Saturday Guardian Career supplement is always recommending moving on if things aren't working in current job.

Quit. Life's too short. If you can bitch about the way you spend the majority of your day you're better off out of it, mentally and physically.

Having said that, quit on your own terms. Find something else first. If you've put up with it for a while, a little longer won't kill you.

Very true SteelFairy. This is your life. It's not a dress rehersal.

great advice - i'd better get off here and resume the job-hunting. i've figured that i am living someone else's dream...it's a partnership and i will never be part of 'that club' and therefore had to quit and go somewhere else tha needs me, or better still create a partnership of my own with like minded people! thanks v much
