AIBU to wish my mum would go to bed?

I know we share a house an all. But it is now 04.17am.

I very rarely get the chance to stop up late. Just to listen to music (via Youtube, with headphones on) and make a toasted cheese sarnie with brown sauce. Aged Mama and DH frequently potter around until 4-5am because 1) Mama is 81 and B) DH is self-employed.

I normally have to be up at 06.30 for DS to get him off to school. DS broke up from school today and has asked for a Duvet Day tomorrow, so no-one has to get up in the morning.

Neither of them will EVER let me stop up beyond midnight without coming and checking up on me every 20 minutes. Why aren't you in bed? When are you coming to bed? Are you ill? What about poor little DS in the morning etc. etc.

I am 49 FFS!

We have a spare bedroom that DH kips in whenever he has a late night. We have a music room and a spare dining room. We have our own living quarters so mum can't complain that I'm impinging on her space. No-one is being inconvenienced in the slightest. I do not play loud music or make any kind of noise. They just can't stand me being autonomous.

My mother will NEVER go to bed if she knows I'm still up. FFS, I can still hear her bashing around in the kitchen!!

I get that when my mum visits. She stays up until I finally go to bed, despite nodding away on the couch for hours while I have some me time. I just want to have the house to myself, finish a thought without anyone interrupting me, call my soul my own. I go to bed in the end just to let her get some rest.

But I miss her when she's gone. How crazy is that?

Well, I've made my cheese toastie, and she's still mopping around in the kitchen.

04.45 -Knock knock "Did get order any more toilet roll? - we've run out in the downstairs loo".

05.05 Knock knock - " How much milk do we have left in the freezer - should I defrost some for the morning?

05.15 - MrsF in kitchen making cheese toastie - " that looks lovely dear - how many calories are in that sandwich? - I thought you were on a diet? - don't come moaning to me about being too fat!!!

Yes, I will will miss her when she's gone.

But I HATE the way I revert 30 years when she's around!
