Someone should be responsible for this?!?!?

Sorry for posting here, didn't know where else to put it.

My sister has just informed me that the spa vouchers she ordered for my mum's 50th birthday are either lost or stolen.

The spa place say they were sent recorded delivery and Royal Mail have said they were signed for last thursday in the name of the concierge of her block.

Her concierge has confirmed that it's his name that is on the signed thing Royal Mail have, but that he didn't sign for them. He then added that he knew the postman knew his name.

I don't know if he is implying that the postman has stolen them? But when I visited my sister on Saturday there was a pile of post sitting on the unmanned concierge desk that anyone could have walked off with.

The concierge is saying that he will check the CCTV- but if he took them or left them unattended he isn't likely to admit this.

Where does my sister stand? She has lost £100 if we don't recover them (and I've got to halfs with her so we've both lost £50).

What is the next step- can she insist on viewing the CCTV herself? Shall she contact the police? I think she has contacted the management company of the building but hasn't had a response yet.

I thought the spa place could have cancelled the vouchers but they said they can't.

Any advice?

Did she pay by credit card?

Something valuable has been stolen and apparently signed for by the concierge... I would definately involve the police and ask them to check the CCTV.

The spa place can cancel the vouchers, they're talking nonsense if say they can't.

Of course if she paid by credit card you're ok anyway.

Good points, thanks!

  • I reckon she paid with her debit card ( I will ask her).

I'm just thinking of those TV programmes where the CCTV "wasn't working on that day"! Probably am being paranoid I know.

I was sure the spa place could cancel them too- surely there was a serial number on them or something.
