i've put my name down for a council house and had to give them proof of pregnancy, so they said to take my antenatal book..

i tool it down and she said she needed to photocopy the page with my details on,name, address etc but at the bottom of there is pregnancy details which for me includes my miscarriages and my postnatal depression and also my weigh...

aibu to think that they should cover that bit, its nothing to do with my application and they should have a better system for proof of pregnancy such as something your midwife would sign like the grant applications?

Did you ask them to cover that sensitive information?

gorionine · 31/03/2010 16:54

Totally agree with you.

MathsMadMummy · 31/03/2010 16:57

YANBU, I see your point, but I don't really see what harm it can do. I doubt they'll be sitting around sniggering?

gorionine · 31/03/2010 17:48

True MMM but what has her past pregnancies/medical history got to do with her application for a council house? I think one is allowed to a minimum of privacy.

MathsMadMummy · 31/03/2010 17:55

well nothing obviously, and in principle it should be covered, but I do think it's a bit different than giving that info to someone who would actually read it and use it against you (insurers, advertisers etc) IYSWIM.

Surely your GP or midwife could just give you a signed letter confirming your pregnancy? I'm sure I did that for something.

mazzystartled · 31/03/2010 18:27

MAT B1 form or photocopy thereof would do the job
your MW can give you one of those from 20 weeks I think?
