.. who now only ever stops to chat or gets in touch when she wants money for some hairbrained scheme that she or her other half are doing/being sponsored for etc? First couple of times I fell for the "OH HI, how are you, so sorry not been in touch, would love to catch up, oh by the way you free on bla bla to come and spend lots of money at my fund raiser...." but now, it positively pisses me off when I get the phone call/email/text etc asking for YET MORE sodding support for whatever it happens to be this week.

Grrr. It's all admirable stuff and all that, PTA, good causes etc, but only so much of that barefaced cheek I can take, and the DH actually now gets her to do all his pressganging too, think he is a bit embarrassed about asking people yet again, but she has no shame!

AIBU about people who are just 'doing good"? Cos they are, pretty much, just don't like the way it is handled.

It doesn't sound like a friendship then tbh - more like you are on her 'contact list'.

I had a similar thing recently - I would only ever hear from my 'friend' when she needed a babysitter once a week.

In the end I said to her 'look, I want to be your friend, not your babysitter'.

I haven't heard from her since.

I went to a wedding last year at great expense and was quite surprised to be asked for money to sponser the bride in some charity bungee jump and then again at the table to be asked to give money to 'guess the length of the best man's speech... it's for charity' sorry, but the plane tickets, clothes, gift, spending money and hotel accomodation seem like more than enough money to shell out to watch you get married so sod off [bah humbug]

So tacky tulips. I hate people asking me for money. In saying that if someone is doing a that is hard (like a marathon) I would not need to be asked.
