Bigpants1 · 28/03/2010 16:57

I have no idea what a drizzle cake or a mooncup are like so I'll reserve judgement !!

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/03/2010 00:49

me thinks someone was bored. what the hell did you think you were going to achieve. Arent mooncups the mainstay of most of mn?

And the lemon drizzle cake has been the saviour of many a crisis.

Watches the thread develop, especially when the morning crew jumps on board.

cornsilk · 29/03/2010 00:50

I've still not made that lemon drizzle cake.
OP are you dragon butter?

BritFish · 29/03/2010 01:02

i have never tried a mooncup. i just... i cant get my head round it. you stick a cup...up your vagina...and you manage to get it out without getting very messy?
so many questions.
whats wrong with boring old sanitary towels? please, enlighten me. is it not gross?
its a cup...in your vagina.
cant get past that bit, how bad is that!
please, tell me of the 8th wonder of the mumsnet world...

Neverchuckanokiaatthepm · 29/03/2010 01:04

My boss gatecrashed the mnet party ate all the drizzle cake and stuffed the complimentary mooncups up his shirt you may have read about the incident in the press he really is rather s celebrity these days and has just hired Max Clifford, between you and me I hear he is going to be transferred to our office in Ulan Bator serves him right really he thrives in sub zero temps we wer only allowed the one bar heater on for 2hours a day this winter, cant wait to see the back of him it is the mad glint in his eye just freaks me out really,

backs off thread nervously.

Neverchuckanokiaatthepm · 29/03/2010 01:14

BriFish I keep my mooncup as an ornament on my desk, frighfully useful for storing paperclips and odds and sods. Mine was a gift from Harriet (our office manger, throws her weight around a lot and has ideas above her station, I know she has been briefing against my boss, I feel she will be moved down to the post room after May 6th fingers fuckin crossed) anyway she told me it was brand new the mooncup that is! But it looks a little grubby and shop soiled IMHO Rollo wont allow it near the house he says it is bad voodoo

OP posts:
BritFish · 29/03/2010 01:24

rofl Neverchuck
bad voodoo!

you could SERVE lemon drizzle cake in mooncups, they look massive!

Neverchuckanokiaatthepm · 29/03/2010 01:41

Now there is a thought BritFish! I see the lovely Ann Widecombe at our office fom time to time and when shw stopped mentrating she sprayed her mooncups gold and made them into a very fetching pair of dangly earrings. Most cutting edge, is our Annie

giraffesCANdriveAcar · 29/03/2010 01:41

Well if you ban mooncups then I am refusing to use anything else therefore I WILL create a bit of a "drizzle" where ever I go.

You can ban the cake thats fine, as long as cheesecakes safe.

confuddledDOTcom · 29/03/2010 02:01

I've resisted getting a mooncup until recently because I've been pregnant or breastfeeding for the last five years so not really had much of a cycle. I'm sold! I had a really bad period (9 weeks which ended this week, I think it was the appointment to see the vampire that did it) and managed to overflow it so I don't know what would have happened if I'd still been on tampons!

Brit, it's very flexible, you fold it up to about the size of a tampon and insert it like one. It opens up inside and catches everything, the most you really notice is a little pop as it opens but you can't feel it if it's in right. It is funnel shaped and you grab the stem to retrieve it like the cord of a tampon.

Mess. Everything is contained within the cup, unlike a tampon or towel where it soaks in if you're lucky. When you pull it out you're holding something clean (unlike a tampon cord that if you leave it in too long can become bloody) and the top pinches together stopping it spilling.

It's certainly not huge, as I said once folded it's a little bigger than a tampon. It was a little daunting first time but then it was nothing.

Neverchuckanokiaatthepm · 29/03/2010 02:38

EEEW too much detail! Rollo is very worried about the new cashmere rug in our bathroom and is having ghastly thoughts of dropped overflowing mooncups. We were going to donate ours(well we are men and we have no use for them) to our char Samantha bucketfanny but she politely declined as she thought there would be staying in problems and to use her rather charming vernacular "my chuff has seen more traffic than the Dartford Tunnel, it's stretched to buggery and that bloody mooncup is bound to keep droppin on the fuckin floor". She has such a delightful way of conversing, but it does STRETCH one's imagination

confuddledDOTcom · 29/03/2010 08:23

Mine only overflowed because I was losing more in a day than you should in a heavy week(I've not been well! Waiting on hospital referal now) and that was only over night once. Normally a lot cleaner than anything else, you're more likely to get spillage with other methods. If I'd been using anything else I'd have been in a mess.
