DD came home yesterday with a letter telling me she had achieved all of her targets this term Literacy, reading and maths...

me to DD "oh well done DD, you must have been so clever and tried so hard "

DD "actually mum, I was the only one not to get all my targets, and my mates have been laughing at me and now so are you!!!!"

I had been laughing at her great achievement..or smiling rather

so i looked at her actual report and yes she had missed her maths target,....why the feck did they not indicate so on her letter?

Poor DD she was quietly upset about it, those mnetters who know her, know she has tried soooooooooo hard and jumped 5 levels in literacy last year as she had been well behind and we are just wainting for the maths to do the same....she learns in big chunks rather than linearly so for ages it seems as if nothing is going in and then suddenly there is a big change in ability....

i need to speak to the school on her return and address this, it just seemed so tactless to send a standard letter out when it doesnt apply....

I'm not sure I understand?

Surly it's not a big deal, or even a little deal, at the end of the day?

YANBU. The school obviously ballsed up and put the wrong letter in. You should complain, they should have taken more care.

Wonder why they bother with a letter when all the information's already in the report?

Is this something that happens constantly? If not then I'm afraid teachers are human and occasionally will make a mistake when sending out letters for 30 kids. So the most i would do would be to casually mention it in conversation with the teacher. Def would be unfair to create a big stink about it.

because of the letter I thought that DD had passed all her targets....she was upset that she was the only one who hadnt and so was even more upset when i was congratulating her.....she thought i was making fun of her..

I would have thought the school would have got her letter right.

To me it is a big deal, at the end of the day

Mango...i would be subtle about it, but a stupid mistake for the school to make.

Inside im blazing but i wouldnt dream of going to school guns blazing...like you say, mistakes are made
