Because it makes a good story?

I just assume that at least 85% of what I see on messageboards is made up for entertainment purposes.

It is the only explanation that makes any sort of sense really.

blouseenthusiast · 25/03/2010 18:01

I explain this in "Babies"
It si to do with being an "advice attracter".
[shameless plug]

SuSylvester · 25/03/2010 18:01

LOL
but i mean all these people saying things

we had ds3 in a mad 'trum once and were carrying him back to car ( pig to market style) and a man said to dh ( who was next to me)

" just run fast"

OP posts:
traceybath · 25/03/2010 18:02

Is it because you are a leetle bit scary?

SuSylvester · 25/03/2010 18:02

adn they all go BANANAS

i often see over heated babies and feel dorry for them

OP posts:
SuSylvester · 25/03/2010 18:04

I like talking to people generally and would say I mostly get lovely comments from people.

DS1 had a massive tantrum in sainsburys once and I was just stood ignoring him and a lovely old lady came and said 'best of british my dear' - it made me smile.

But then I like shop assistants who chat and purposely wait to be served by my favourites and I even know their names - golly I am sad aren't I?

BritFish · 25/03/2010 18:10

oh, i definately attract them. its my hair. its dyed dark red. which just makes me crazy in most peoples books.

SuSylvester · 25/03/2010 19:26

I think I must attract them The amount of times I have posted about bizarre and insulting comments. OP I think I must be getting your share as well!!

cocolepew · 25/03/2010 19:29

Everybody who BF on MN has been tutted /sighed at apparently. None of my friends has experienced this and we're all small minded bigots where I live.

I get them. Mad old woman asked the other day of DS was "a bit backwards" cos he didn't want to talk to her while she loomed over him whittering away.

No he just looked at her as though she was weird. Which she was.

QuinnFebray · 25/03/2010 19:32

not mentalists giveing meparenting advice (i am pretty damn perfect in that department) but i can guarantee if the train seat next to me is empty a nutter will choose to sit next to me and scare me,.

Pozzled · 25/03/2010 19:34

Cocolepew- when I BF I was so ready for the tutting/sighing, but it never materialised.

I definitely feel 'out of it' on mumsnet. I like my MIL and enjoy her visits. I have never yet been verbally abused for my parenting, and I am not considering reporting any of my acquaintances to SS.

What a boring life I must lead.

it's OK. I can use nutter freely as my child is one.

I also have traits of nuttiness she has inherited from me.

like jewish people telling rabbi jokes.

QuinnFebray · 25/03/2010 19:38

and my spelling has gone all to pieces.

usualsuspect · 25/03/2010 19:39

I've never been tutted at..or seen anybody force feed a child ..never had a checkout assistant say anything arsey ..maybe I'm just oblivious tho

Northernlurker · 25/03/2010 19:40

I talk to mums and dads with children all the time. My favourite topics are children with adorable shoes - I like to admire them and see the kids face light up - and general lovely adorable behaviour which I compliment the parent on if I get the chance when the child is distracted. I like seeing the parent's faces light up as well

I was on a train recently with a dad and his son aged about 8. Son was a huge fan of train timetables and had it out on the table so I asked him what time the train got in at my stop and we talked about one or two other things. As the train was drawing in son hastened towards the end of the carriage and dad was much more relaxed about getting things together so I said how interesting and eloquent his son was to talk to. He looked really pleased if a bit surprised

If the people I speak to want to post threads on 'the mad woman who complimented my baby on her Kickers today'they are free to do so but it won't stop me being a bit mad friendly.

MinnieMalone · 25/03/2010 19:41

You obviously don't live in London. Nutjobbers everywhere.

SuSylvester · 25/03/2010 19:42

usualsuspect · 25/03/2010 19:44
