To think Cbeebies shouldn't show birthday cards for one year olds.

They don't know, and it means they has less time to show cards for older children.

er...does it really matter??

maduggar · 25/03/2010 14:40

& @ 1 year olds being less deserving

yes, yabu.

doggiesayswoof · 25/03/2010 14:40

YABU

They might have older sbilings who made the card and get a big thrill out of seeing it

CaresMildly · 25/03/2010 14:41

YANBU - and add to that why show cards for school age children during school hours. It's madness!!

Marne · 25/03/2010 14:41

I agree, i think its more for the parents then the children. I managed to get dd2's (4) card on Cbeebies this year (last year i tried and failed), dd2 was so pleased to see her face on CBeebies, TBH last year dd2 would not have even noticed due to her having Autism, but this year she did notice .

SPBInDisguise · 25/03/2010 14:43

you big meanie
I've sent one in for DS's 3rd birthday and I am a bit at the 1yo cards - it's not like they're going to know
OTOH their parents will proudly record it and show them when they're older, it's the same principle as having a birthday party for a 1yo
Now keep your fingers crossed for mine!

SPBInDisguise · 25/03/2010 14:44

I thought the other day that they seemed to do the 1yo cards in the morning, the 2yo/3yo next and then the older DCs in the afternoon - is that right or was it just coincidence?

Maleeka · 25/03/2010 14:46

yabu, lets face it, these cards are not for the kids are they! . Its so other parents can see how gorgeous their kids are

CaresMildly · 25/03/2010 14:47

Not sure - I saw one recently in the middle of the day full of 6, 7 and 8 year old cards. Seemed a bit of bad planning to me - it can't be that hard to separate them by ages and show them as you suggest.

SPBInDisguise · 25/03/2010 14:49

well presumably there are so few of those that they lump them together - most seem to be for 1 & 2yos, was worried DS was too old at 3!!

darcymum · 25/03/2010 14:52

I've sent them in every birthday for my DCs (except the first) and have only been successful once. DD was ecstatic!

I know, I know, before you all tell me I should just try to make less crap cards.

oh dear, my chances aren't good then

Galena · 25/03/2010 15:59

Mine neither it seems. I've just sent one in for my DDs 1st birthday in a few weeks!

I know she won't recognise herself, but she had a rocky start to life and, for me, it's important to mark the end of her first year.

Yes, we are also having a 'playdate party' with a few of her friends, and I know she won't know about that either, but I don't care!

We may even have another party in July when she was due too!

NormalityBites · 25/03/2010 16:31

It never actually occured to me to put the TV on for my DD until she was about 18mo. I wasn't being preachy or virtuous it honestly just never occured to me that she would be interested by it! She's made up for it since I am a but confused by the cards for one year olds, I admit. But I remember her first birthday and she seemed Big and Grown Up to me so maybe that's why

Christ

SPBInDisguise · 25/03/2010 16:34

NB i assume the 1yos have older siblings, otherwise i agree, its unlikely the parents will have heard of it!

Mouseface · 25/03/2010 16:35

YABU - I'll be very relieved and happy when my DS reaches 1 as there have been far too many times when he might not have made it even this far.........

They also seem to show the same sets of cards more than once?

jellybeans · 25/03/2010 16:38

YABU

Willabywallaby · 25/03/2010 16:39

I always wonder what you do on the day, do you watch cbeebies all day to see if it's on, or record the whole day and check it later?

Galena · 25/03/2010 16:43

They have the times for birthday cards on the website willaby, so you can just record the few 10 minute sections.

And yes, I've seen some cards repeated sometimes, so it seems strange that they don't show others.

SPBInDisguise · 25/03/2010 16:44

yes dh has been given the task of figuring out how to record chunks of time rather than programmes
