OMG, that is so disgusting. Please be a windup.

hatwoman · 25/03/2010 19:25

dh's dog used to be his partner in crime when he was a drunken teen. dh would go out, put the bin by his bed, throw up in the middle of the night (as you do) and the dog would clear it up. mmmm beer, chips and curry sauce

CarGirl · 25/03/2010 19:25

StrictlyKatty why do you think this is a wind up?

It's normal for dogs to eat their own vomit I think it's probably the regurgitation theory tbh.

darcymum · 25/03/2010 21:26

Strictlykatty, you obviously don't have a dog.

I've had to stop putting scraps out 4 birds as dog seems to be really determined to get them, worse on windy day, blow everywhere, birds have 2 make do wi seed feeder. Seems to get her into a real 'scrounger' mentality where she would b looking 4 scraps everywhere.
Another gross one-friend had noticed lots of flies appearing in living room over several weeks, kept sprayin & more appearing, turned out there was DEAD BIRD under sofa!! Yuk, she was horrified, cat to blame, mind if they had dog, would prob have eaten it!!

Questioning some peoples hygeine on here

darcymum · 26/03/2010 15:03

Whenever my dog is lucky enough to find the decomposing corpse of some poor bird or animal she much prefers to have a good roll in it.

Some things are just too good to eat.

nannynobnobs · 26/03/2010 15:13

My dog hoovers up under the kids' table and also cleans my pots and pans before I wash them so I don't have to scrub dried on food off! He has not been in a situation to eat anybody's sick- I think I'd puke if I saw that- but he surely would if I let him. He even ate the piece of grey, hairy, ancient rock hard bread that I swept out from under the fridge.
He is currently still on my shit list for stealing the half a Toblerone cookie I left on my laptop on the sofa for FIVE MINUTES. Hairy bastard.

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 26/03/2010 15:13

My dog eats all the cat poo out the litter tray for me. Saves me doing it.

darcymum · 26/03/2010 15:16

What saves you eating it stripeyknickers?

Bewler · 26/03/2010 15:20

stripeyknickers VOM at your dog's revolting antics, that cannot be true! I just guffawed out loud at my open plan desk but now want to be sick,

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 26/03/2010 15:51

Ha ha, yes. Obviously I wouldn't be eating it, rather cleaning it up. But yes she does.

DoubleDees · 26/03/2010 16:01

I once saw a gorilla eat its own poo at the zoo...not really a domestic pet though

darcymum · 26/03/2010 16:07

I once saw at a zoo a monkey in mid poo when another monkey came along, grabbed it and ran off. The first monkey gave chase to get his poo back. Don't know what happened after that.

fruitshootsandheaves · 26/03/2010 16:10

I worked at a rescue centre and the RSPCA brought us in a dog that the owners refused to keep any longer as it had supposedly eaten their cat.
The RSPCA man didn't really believe them until he opened the van to get the dog, and saw the evidence in the dog sick in the van!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 26/03/2010 16:16

My dog is very handy to have around whilst I feed my DD, who has a mild case of reflux. She sits there waiting for it to come now!
Same for nappies, once, just once I left a dirty nappy on the floor for no more than a minute and it had been licked clean. She now sits and waits expectantly when I change DD.

Bewler · 26/03/2010 16:23

Pigeons pecking at drunkards sick and fish gobbling up divers vomit I can handle....but a dog licking clean a nappy....that is gruesome! Have some vomemoticons

dilbertina · 26/03/2010 16:37

our dog used to follow the chickens around awaiting his next tasty morsel...

2old4thislark · 26/03/2010 19:31

Decomposing bunny ears went down a treat
that the dog found during one morning walk. If I see her chewing something when we are out, I just let her get on with as I just don't want to know!

BritFish · 26/03/2010 19:40

ha, i love how some people on here are like-thats sooo gross.
i find baby sick/poo a lot worse than dog stuff!

ours has eaten
about 4 stolen neurofen!
1 massive toblerone
2 banana skins, but hates the furry bit of kiwis
countless lollies and hard boiled sweets
part of a mouse [spat it back out]

and he eats loads and loads of human chocolate which everyone claims is LETHAL to dogs

Batteryhuman · 26/03/2010 19:46

My lab eats dog poo, his own and others and therefore has to wear a plastic cage type muzzle when out. You have never cleared up anything worse than vomited up dog poo.

He also loves to roll (have you guessed he's a lab). Worst was when he and the springer went into the field early one morning and rolled in a rotting deer carcass. They had to be shampooed and then the field cleared and all before the school run.

Ripeberry · 26/03/2010 19:51

I knew a dog once that ate other dogs mess off the street . Can you imagine, you would never need a poop scoop again.
But she would not eat her own though
