That's how I keep my house so clean.

Oh dear, was managing to feel not too queasy reading this till the one about the litter tray

violethill · 25/03/2010 14:30

I don't have a dog withorwithoutyou.

It just seems likely that a dog which licks up vomit will also be inclined to lick other objects or people. But perhaps the OP's dog prefers vomit! Delightful.

duchesse · 25/03/2010 14:32

So violet, did you actually just come here to tell us much you dislike dogs? Thanks for sharing.

darcymum · 25/03/2010 14:32

My dog likes litter tray snacks as well. When we hear the cat scratching in the litter tray we both race to see who gets there first.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 25/03/2010 14:33

Very useful things dogs are !. DD came up this morning to tell us that ours had been sick and I couldn't help thinking that she'd probably eat it if I left it. Thought the better of it and kicked DH out of bed to deal with it.

darcymum · 25/03/2010 14:35

My dog when I was I child once sicked up a whole sausage. Then she thought, ooh a sausage!

GrimmaTheNome · 25/03/2010 14:36

On a slightly less gross level, our former nanny reckoned it was a really good idea to have a little dog ho(o)vering around under the highchair when feeding a little one. Her new employers foolishly didn't have one so she spent a lot more time picking up bits herself (I hasten to add she was a treasure who regularly, without being asked, scrubbed the kitchen floor herself, she didn't leave it all to the dog.)

violethill · 25/03/2010 14:37

Did I say I dislike dogs?

Must have missed when I typed that bit.

Just find the idea of letting your pet eat up sick is a bit yeuch!!!!

skihorse · 25/03/2010 14:37

hahaha! I'm hoping my two will be superb assets once my child starts eating/throwing food around.

They're also absolutely bloody marvellous about getting a really dirty pan clean and ready for washing up. Who needs to soak a pan for hours on end when a dog will really put its back in to licking that bunrt on bit off?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 25/03/2010 14:38

Oh, my big dog is brilliant at cleaning up after my dgs eats, my smaller dog takes food from his hands so she's banned at mealtimes.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 25/03/2010 14:40

takes notes from skihorse

2old4thislark · 25/03/2010 14:41

My dog used to like 'cat litter sausages. Not a problem since a fox ate the cat

Also likes 'bunny raisins', 'organic goose poo sausages' and 'horse muesli'

Tiredmumno1 · 25/03/2010 14:46

Oh jeez, that is so unbelievably nasty, so if i throw up, i will be needing to borrow one of your dogs to clear it up

iamreallysilly · 25/03/2010 14:47

at above, my dog loves these too!! LOL at darcymum

GoldPlated · 25/03/2010 16:17

When I was young we had a mental collie. His favourite trick was puking things up whenever visitors came (none of which we knew he had eaten in the first place)

used sanitary towels
underwired bras
a roll of freezer bags
a box of immodium (still in box)
various other items of clothing and underwear

He would look so proud. Bless.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 25/03/2010 16:31

I had a mongrel terrier when the DSs were young. One day I came back from shopping to find that he'd eaten a soiled disposable nappy, and barfed it back up.

Lovely.

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 16:32

ffs [clicks hide]

frankenfanny · 25/03/2010 16:37

Mine like cat shit as well as vomit. And nappies, soiled pants, their own sick and each others. And they get to lick us. We are all quite healthy.

NormalityBites · 25/03/2010 16:39

YANBU everybody's happy My dog liked to eat nappies, he'd rip them to pieces and all the little jelly balls would fall out - if you turned your back for a second or left one in a bin anywhere in the house you'd turn back to an unHOLY mess. I switched to cloth My dog is an eco-warrior

CheeeseOnToast · 25/03/2010 16:48

This thread has put me right off getting a dog!! They are very sweet, but I really don't think I could cope with all this

BalloonSlayer · 25/03/2010 16:53

This thread has got to be the grossest I have ever read on MN.

And I thought our old dog was undiscerning because we used to be able to feed her our mum's vile casserole, so that we didn't have to eat it. Turns out she was a bit of a gourmand in dog terms. Who knew . . .?

KurriKurri · 25/03/2010 17:01

My dog will eat up her own sick, a bit like one of those sea birds who regurgitate. (disclaimer - she does it so quickly I don't have time to clear it up)

She also once ate one of those fat cakes for birds. - Let's just say if your dog is ever constipated, fat cakes are the answer.

pigletmania · 25/03/2010 17:29

This thread so so grim

darcymum · 25/03/2010 19:05

Yes pigletmania I agree, it is funny though.

BabsH · 25/03/2010 19:16

Absolutely brilliant, the dogs are looking at me wondering why I'm crying with laughter!

My dogs do all of the above, plus they have this thing for eating the stale bread from the bird table, I figure the neighbours must think that we dont feed them, the more I try to stop them from eating the crusts the more they think it's this amazing treat that they just have to gobble down!!!
