I recently bought a pair of sandles on ebay, ( a month ago is when i paid for them ) and recieved them this morning,, they are totally covered in dried mud and grit/stones.

I only bought them for when we go to the pool/sand pit, and in all i paid £4.49, but I have never had anything arrive in such a state before!

The item description noted in good condition, AIBU to expect them to of been washed or cleaned a bit before posting them?
I wouldn't mind if it was a little bit, or a few bits of grit stuck in the tread, but its everywhere, like chunks stuck on the bottom and smears all over the straps!

I have just emailed the seller asking to explain why they are like this etc.

what would you do? ask for a refund - i can't be asked to send them back tbh, but feel angry that this seems acceptable.
am feeling like kicking ebay to the kerb.

I would take photos, email them to seller, asking for refund due to unacceptable condition, and take it up with ebay if they will not refund you

oldraver · 25/03/2010 13:55

I would raise a dispute. If they are that bad you may get your money back and not have to send them back

Mouseface · 25/03/2010 13:57

Not sure if YABU but I'd be a bit miffed too. That's a poor show on the sellers part, can you report them/complain to ebay for fibbing about the condition of said footwear?

OTTMummA · 25/03/2010 14:03

yes i was actualy going to leave negative feedback and not bother emailing them, and it got to the page where it asked you why it was neg feedback, and i did select item was not as described - which i wasn't.
but then decided to email first and cancled the page.

I think if they dispute the condition i will take picks and send them. and open a dispute, but im just shocked that they sent them in that condition. grrrr

I emailed a seller to complain as a newborn item which they stated had never been worn clearly has (faded) nappy leak poo stains...
Anyway, I asked for a 50% refund as I still did want the item (was lovely & a bargain which washed up fine & only got more poo stains on anyway)
I felt that this was reasonable & they can do this through paypal very simply.

Try this with the seller - tell them you're disappointed etc etc. and was going to leave neg f'back but would prefer a % refund and all will be good.

Didn't work for me though. I got told 'tough sh*t' - which was sort of ironic really....

OTTMummA · 25/03/2010 14:27

how disgusting pixiemamma!
did you have to send it back or have to open a dispute?

I hope you left negative fedback pixiemamma. That's really grim about the poo stains.

PeedOffWithNits · 25/03/2010 14:32

pixie - if they sold it as never worn and it had poo stains did you not take it up with ebay "item significantly different than described" springs to mind

pixiemamma · 25/03/2010 14:33

well, it was about 2 weeks before DD born so wasn't all that focused on ebay issues, but I emailed them - they denied that it was ever worn (FFS!) so I sent them a photo & asked for 50% refund as I did still want them (gorgeous plastisock quilted dungarees fwiw)and I knew from experience that poo stains wash out with a good hot wash. I just felt it was the principle that they had lied.
Anyway they said it was tough because I had got them so cheap and they were originally so expensive - relevance?
I suppose I could still leave neg feedback as it was only 3 months ago. Maybe I'll just put 'poo stains' and leave it at that

Nikna · 25/03/2010 14:33

Yes definitely ask for a refund. That is appalling. I know what you mean about feeling like giving up on ebay because of these sorts of sellers.

Nothing as bad as the above but I have had several items described as good condition which were far from it. These sellers are giving ebay a bad name.

bearcrumble · 25/03/2010 14:36

Do it, pixiemamma!

Nikna · 25/03/2010 14:36

Lol, Pixie - you've gotta leave that feedback

pixiemamma · 25/03/2010 14:46

LOL

OTTMummA · 25/03/2010 18:24

lol, unfortunatley it was just mud and stones, no poo, ive had a sniff lol.
I would leave that feedback IIWY pixie, it would put a smile on me face!
