to be panicking about our holiday?

We are due to go on a longhaul holiday on Easter Sat. DD1 is currently off school with chicken pox - first spots appeared on Monday. I'm sure she'll be fine to fly by next Sat, but I'm really concerned that DD2 (2) will come down with it in the meantime and will be contagious at the wrong time....

I'd love to hear any reassuring stories about one child in the family having chicken pox and others not catching it - please!

My three brothers had chicken pox and i apparently never got it!
Good luck and fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Krugerparkrules - are you the only one though...? For those who have had 2 children with chicken pox, what was the gap between the first one catching it and the second? NHS direct reckons between 10 and 21 days - is it more often sooner, or later?

I am one of four children. Three of us got chicken pox, one got German measles. At the same time.

You can imagine how much fun my mum had...

Neither of my boys caught chicken pox from me when I finally had it, at 31. They used to sit on the bed and count my spots too.

But I'm afraid that when they did get around to catching it - 7 years later - it was exactly ten days after ds1 came down with it that ds2 presented the symptoms. You may be OK but it does seem to be unhelpfully contagious!

my three have all had chicken pox but at totally different times (the first two well over a year apart!) so it has never been spread child to child.

My DD had chickenpox over the Easter holidays two years ago, so DS was with her at home the whole time but never came down with it.

My older brother and I have never had it - even though our parents sent us to chicken pox parties! My younger brother got it when he was about 14 and my older brother and I still didn't get it and we lived in the same house and shared a bathroom!
