Hi All,
it has been ages since I have been on mumsnet, sorry...but can anyone advice me on reasonable but nice Hotels near Underground stations and not to far from the Happening places, iykwim. Also, we would like to go for an Italian Meal, any recommendations on that would be appreciated too!

Budget?

MadameDefarge · 24/03/2010 21:23

Blimey, lovely, its a bit vague! Where to even start! Please pick an area and we might be able to help!

What is your budget? You can get a decent travelodge room near Kings Cross on Greys Inn Road, which means you are pretty central. Which might be a start.

There's a travel board...you might have better luck there?

waspylady · 24/03/2010 21:33

I work with hotels and could give you plenty of advice but you do need to narrow it down a bit! Budget? type of hotel? Area? What kind of 'happening' clubs? restaurants?

FairLadyRantALot · 24/03/2010 21:45

doesntplaywell..tried there..no response....and well....hehe...YABU you always get response...

Kings Cross area sounds good...as trainstop is St. Pancras..it would mean getting rid of bags and checking in first would be a fab option...

as for price range...well...not to pricey...it doesn't have to be all singing and dancing....hehe....a place where some rampant sex can be had :D

Clubs not sooo important....more a romantic/sexy weekend....probably go to Covent Garden for entertainment and walks on the Thames, and have a drink somewhere....more about spending time together than going places...

Restaurant, definately a good Italian...and I am clueless...and would like to get recommendations of restaurants whihc are maybe peoples favourite....taste of food and the ambiance (sp?) is important...

I know I am not really that much help...

In which case, go for the travelodge. Then jump on the tube down to Covent Garden, mooch around, go for dinner/lunch at Orso (Great/Wellington Street?) Pricey, but lovely...then meander down over waterloo bridge and walk along the thames....

waspylady · 24/03/2010 21:56

Ok that gives us something more to go on...as it happens most of my work is in the KX area so i know all the hotels there! You could look at this website
www.thehotelnetwork.co.u

If you want a small family run b and b then the Alhambra is good value for money, rooms are quite small but they often are in London.
If you want something a bit 'posher' the Megaro hotel is a boutique hotel on the Euston Road and have some lovely rooms (and suites)
www.hotelmegaro.co.uk/

There is a nice gastro pub in KX too www.thefellow.co.uk/ or it is easy to walk through Bloomsbury to the West End......
this restaurant also has a good reputation
www.acornhouserestaurant.com/
I'm not sure about italian places, trying to think of the name of one someone recommended to me on Southampton row....
and i know it's french not italian but this place is nice with a kind of 'cellar' feel downstairs......www.garrickrestaurantbar.co.uk/
