... a toddler dragging and scraping a chair/stool along the ground the MOST irritating noise in the world?

Drives me utterly wild. Argh!

Oh God yes, its awful, they carry on doing it you know, my girl is 7 and still drags the chairs over the floor to make dens and stuff

CaptainPicardsPineapple · 24/03/2010 16:21

I know I know I know! And the little shits darlings seem to love it too.

Mouseface · 24/03/2010 16:22

Goes through me like nails on a blackboard or scrunching polystyrene!!!

BettyButterknife · 24/03/2010 16:31

Thing is, I remember my dad shouting at us to 'PICK IT UP, FOR GOD'S SAKE!' and I always thought he was a right old grump.

Turns out he was right all along

Actually BB I think discovering that I've turned into my mother is even more annoying than whatever it is the DC have done to make me sound like her.

emmymama · 24/03/2010 16:35

i can cop with that..... its dragging his feet that annoys me...."oi! boy! dont come cheap those shoes you know!"

Shodan · 24/03/2010 16:38

The chair dragging I can cope with.

But feet dragging pees me off no end. And not just from my dc. I see girls scraping their feet along in those little ballet shoe things and it makes my teeth itch.

I just want to bellow 'PICK YOUR FEET UP, YOUNG LADY!!!!'

ShinyAndNew · 24/03/2010 16:38

Prolonged high pitched howls are much more annoying.

Today dd2 is a wolf. . I like it much better when she is a duck. Ducks are quiet. Mice are even better. Dogs are slightly annoying as she seems to have decided she is a Yorkshire Terrier and will bite your ankle if you venture too close.

BettyButterknife · 24/03/2010 16:53

Ooh yes, shinyandnew - DS loves being a train and will not tire of the 'WOOO WOOOOOOOOO!'

Or a lion, where he roars right up close in your face disturbingly loudly for such a small person.

YANBU

I also hate it when she scrapes metal with metal i.e spoon on saucepan. Makes me cringe.

Bathsheba · 24/03/2010 17:01

The constant noise of DD1 (6) taking sellotape off the roll for her myriad craft projects - constantly - she once went through a roll in an hour.

Often the first heard sound in the morning is sellotape when she has sneaked downstairs to buid the Hoover Dam from printer paper and sellotape.

shockers · 24/03/2010 17:16

Speaking of foot dragging, I can't watch Eastenders because of Max's shuffling.

oldernowiser · 24/03/2010 17:19

Bathsheba, I'm sorry to say that she probably won't grow out of it any time soon. My nearly 11 year old still does this. I may have to buy shares in sellotape. Every item is also precious and must be kept for ever.

Bathsheba · 24/03/2010 17:39

Oh yes, evry printer paper and sellotape construction is precious...

She's jsut woken up DD3 (10 weeks) by pulling a bit of sellotape off the roll just behind her head.

ifancyashandy · 24/03/2010 17:51

Feet dragging definitely! And it seems worse when they're wearing Ugg boots (or the like). Arrgghh, I could quite simply brake their delicate little ankles for them!

And Shockers, I can cope with Max off Enders as got a massive tiny crush on him
