. . . play a small handful of Johnny Cash songs over and over and over and over again (in privacy of car or ipod so am not inflicting them on others)

yes
hes terrible

memoo · 23/03/2010 20:24

as long as you play 'folsam prison blues'!

I have brain washed my kids into liking johny cash and they now know all the words to all the songs!

Beats nursery rhymme CD's when on long car journeys

MiffyWhinge · 23/03/2010 20:25

is he? in my mildly obsessive state he seems to approach a sort of genius

Well in the circs YANBU.

You are not inflicting them on others after all...

I was very unreasonable the other week according to DH because I played Blur's "Tender" on YouTube 12-14 times in a row.

I loved it though and also I was trying to work out the harmonies because I could work them out.

I pissed him off similarly at Christmas with Charlotte Church and "Oh Holy Night"

MiffyWhinge · 23/03/2010 20:32

yes am being careful not to blast them all over the house/county, mindful of my David Bowie episode although did create a LOT of Bowie fans among the disaffected yoof nearby

will try the prison blues song, currently only playing Man in Black, his version of 9 inch nails' Hurt, Walk the Line and (excruciatingly) Ghost Riders in the Sky which is quite jolly compared to the first two

(why this need to confess tho?)

why not listen to hurt by nine inch naisl?
do you never just want to shout "oh lighten up!" at the cd player?

mamsnet · 23/03/2010 20:39

My kids have been similarly indoctrinated! They love Ring of Fire, Jackson and all the faster ones though..

and we have to play "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash" over and over in the car.. they crease up every time!

I also agree that it sure beats the constant loop of the nursery rhymes CDs!

MiffyWhinge · 23/03/2010 20:41

have not got a CD player but I see what you mean

hopefully this phase will not last forever, is hard to resist urge to SHARE the experience with anyone and everyone though

wish I could be a bit more normal sometimes

there is nothing cuter than the kids in the back of the car singing "no, no, no it aint me babe, it aint me you're looking for babe"

MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 23/03/2010 21:25

We all love JC in this family and the DC love singing along to lots of of the songs in hte car. We are quite fond of American iv : The Man Comes Around, especially Hurt.
