Do you have any Me time, and what do you do with it?

GREAT user name
i started havign baths to make dh cope with three under 5

still have em

he never rumbled me

SuSylvester · 23/03/2010 13:03

btw are we saying baything or barthing to this

yellowcircle · 23/03/2010 13:04

Bathing is me time if you take too long about it - it is a necessity if you do it quickly.

The only me time I have is when DS is at school and my mum has my DD so that I can go to the gym.

Rockbird · 23/03/2010 13:05

I don't think the 1hr30 baths with book, Lush ball and chocolate fingers that I have once every couple of weeks can be counted as a basic necessity

TrillianAstra · 23/03/2010 13:05

Depends if you are wallowing with candles or just scrubbing (in whcih case have a shower)

Tiredmumno1 · 23/03/2010 13:05

The only me time i get is when i am asleep

expatinscotland · 23/03/2010 13:07

I don't believe in 'me' time.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/03/2010 13:07

We have got it well organised, DC's get bathed although DD likes a shower now, then I have a wallow time and DH has DC's and puts DS to bed and then he has a bath while I have time with DD. I get at least 40 mins of bath/drying time a night.

GrimmaTheNome · 23/03/2010 13:07

Su - Ba-thing oop north!

I remember when DD was smaller me-time was going to the loo unaccompanied and reading most of the paper.

LaDiDaDi · 23/03/2010 13:09

If you don't have a shower then t's a basic necessity, if you do have a shower then it's me time.

Unless you are sharing your bath with two small children (every bath that I've had this year).

Tiredmumno1 · 23/03/2010 13:10

Although i do like a good hot bath, hate it when the water cools down, its just not the same

doesntplaywellwithothers · 23/03/2010 13:10

I agree with expatinscotland...I don't get much me time, and I don't need it...that's what my 20's were for!!

SoupDragon · 23/03/2010 13:10

Agree with LaDiDa - showering is my "basic necessity", a rare bath is Me Time.

thedollshouse · 23/03/2010 13:12

When I have a bath it is about "me time" as I have a shower which is a basic necessity. When I have a bath (once in a blue moon), I like to wallow in lots of bubbles, have candles in the bathroom and have a large glass of wine.

tabbyH · 23/03/2010 13:15

I have my me time while DD asleep - I make a cup of tea, and drink all of it whilst surfing (usually end up on here). I do like baths when DD asleep and DH has been fed, but would rather go to my local gym to use the steam room, that way if DD wakes up I can't hear her! (sorry DD!)

emkana · 23/03/2010 13:16

I'm with expat

I find the whole concept of "me-time" risible

Tiredmumno1 · 23/03/2010 13:18

I am used to the no me time now, what the hey you learn to live with it.

MathsMadMummy · 23/03/2010 13:22

my me-time currently consists of studying for my maths degree.

I don't get much me time at the moment, which may explain why I'm a couple of weeks behind on the course

RE the bath thing, well for us a shower is a necessity, a bath is a luxury.

not4anotherday · 23/03/2010 13:35

If you wallow then it is me time.

I have a lie in at least once a week (DD3 does wake me most nights at least 5 times)

I quite often go back to bed on a weekend afternoon for a kip or to read a book

I love sitting on the sofa, wine in hand when DDs have gone to bed

DD1 and 2 are at school and DD3 goes to nursery for a couple of sessions (I do actually work then so not strictly me time)

mamsnet · 23/03/2010 13:38

Is it the name "me time" that you find risible? Or the concept in itself? You mean you NEVER need to be alone????

I'm sorry but I don't believe you

expatinscotland · 23/03/2010 13:39

They go to bed, mam, you know. And then you're still awake. Without them around. Alone or if you have a partner and he's not working then with him there.

paisleyleaf · 23/03/2010 13:40

I sometimes walk slowly back to the car from putting the shopping trolley away.

mamsnet · 23/03/2010 13:42

I'm not picking a fight expat, I promise.. and fwiw I am very seldom without a child hanging out of me but sometimes, on the very odd occasion that DH is home for bath, dinner etc I just need to hand them over and MN while he deals with them..
I'm a much nicer person afterwards.

bumpybecky · 23/03/2010 13:42

expat, how old is your eldest child?

we're fast getting to the point that the dd1 (almost 12) goes to bed at the same time as me at the weekend. I have to get up early (6.30am) with ds while dd1 has a lovely lie in

I'm a firm believer in me time. I just wish I had more!

ToccataAndFudge · 23/03/2010 13:44

but even when they're in bed you can't just relax totally as one of them will probably wake up.
