To be scared of dolls ?

My friend sent me a photo of one lying next to her baby to show how small she is, put the damn fear of god into me, horrible things with their glassy, staring eyes.

My niece has one that turns its head to your voice ffs, and don't get me started on puppets, pob in particular.

So tell me, would i be unreasonable to smash up hide dolls from little visitors to save my soul from their glassy gaze ??

YANBU - now I've read this thread, I'm scared of dolls!!!! Yikes!!!

YANBU I am shit scared of dolls in particular the lifelike ones with the glassy eyes and ones that cry.

I mistakenly came across a hobby that people indulge in in the US (and frankly they can keep it) called re-born dolls. They sell stuff for it on ebay.

Jesus, I have never seen such vile creepiness in all my days. In short people have a doll that takes on a life of its own-they have heartbeats installed, have the bodies coated in a wax-like substance and give the impression of veins on the skin. They also have organs made and place them inside the dolls. They are taken out in prams and treated like humans....{shudder}

It's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Each to their own and all that, but my liberal atttitude just cannot be stretched to lengths that would deem this kind of hobby necessary, normal or natural.

Clowns freak me out too, and I must admit the sight of some plants and animals make me feel ill too.

Have I just offered myself up for some kind of therapy by sharing this?

You should all buy Barbies, there is nothing scarey about a Barbie!

Maelstrom is responsible for my inherent dislike of lifelike victoriana style dolls. They completely freak me out. DD was given one by our neighbour - lovely gesture but it found it's way to the local Hospice shop
