to be really annoyed with Tesco?

DH and I fancied a drink last night, so he said he would pop into town to buy a bottle of scotch. I got on the Tesco website and they had our favourite on sale for £15 a litre, so off he went. When he got there, the 70cl bottles were on sale for £11 but they were sold out; the litre bottles were full price (over £19).

He asked at Customer Services and they said that prices vary from store to store, and the £15 offer was only for home delivery which has a £5.95 charge.

My argument is, if I order it with a home delivery, the charge is for ALL my shopping so it only works out at a few pence per item. And the scotch would be £15 for home delivery, and would actually come from our local store and be one of the bottles my husband was looking at!

AIBU to be really annoyed about this and write a snotty letter to Tesco (which I may already have written and sent) or should I get over it and get a life?

Ah thanks for setting me straight

I was livid over this last night, DH went quietly up to bed. I don't blame him, PMS is a wonderful thing...

Crikey you really did need a drink didn't you?

NotSoSpeedyGonzales · 20/03/2010 17:47

If you have PMT then YANBU

blogpage · 20/03/2010 17:50

YANBU. The website should make it clear it's only an online offer.

DH is out collecting a part for his motorbike; he just sent me a text saying he's detouring on his way home to go to the discount shop to get me a bottle! Think he doesn't want a repeat of last night. And he's trying to butter me up so he can have a 'fun' night...

what a shame AF arrived this afternoon

YANBU I've had many a chat with my mum who never does on line shopping about the different offers

actually INTGAL as well!

Imisssleeping · 20/03/2010 18:29

So you finished last nights bottle and need another?
btw yes I would send the letter.

MmmCoffee · 20/03/2010 18:41

at Imisssleeping no he didn't buy the bottle last night! DH told me about the prices by phone while he was still in Tesco and I might have been a little bit rude and used some bad words and told him to get his arse home and tell Tesco where to stick their bottles

I think I definitely need to have a nice quiet drink tonight.

I'm permanently annoyed with Tesco, but I think I'd just let that one go.
