to think that some "tradesmen" must think women are stupid?

Ok, gets a guy round yesterday to give me a quote for cleaning the carpets.

Firstly he says £135, 5 minutes later, he says as one of the bedrooms is quite small, he could really class it as a box room, and therefore lower price to £125. (This was without me asking)

I tell him that I will think about it, and speak to my husband and get back to him over the weekend.

This morning (9am actually) he rings, to say that he had a really good night last night, got 4 jobs cleaning carpets in big offices that are going to make him £5k... so.....he can do mine for £100 now...

WHAT??????????????

So either he is

a)desperate for business, and therefore should have given me the lower price yesterday instead of making me think I am getting a fab deal

b)he just wants to rummage round in my knicker drawer for 3 hours whilst I am out, and is therefore prepared to knock £25 off the price.

People like this make me soooo cross.

He is trying to rip you off!!!

Why not hire a cleaner and do it your self? We did this and it cost us £40 the hire an industrial type cleaner for the day

Sounds like he is having you on. Just phone a couple of others to see how much they charge, or buy a carpet cleaner yourself with the hundred quid, and its always there when you need it. I have a vax one and love it.

Dh we did that a while ago, rugdoctor or somthing?

Tbh it was so much hassle as dh had to do it while I was at my mums for the night to stop ds getting wet/sucked up, which meant he had to move all of the furniture himself, trail back and forwards with the water.

TBH its not so much the price as the "oh you are getting a great deal" type conversation. Chancer.
