He's gone to bed and done a poo after falling asleep. Perfectly contentedly asleep. So do i leave it? He's more than likely to wake up if I change him

I had the sajme with my ds1 when he was small.
I decided to leave him, he slept all night but had the worst rash the following day, so after that, personally I would wake him and change him

bridewolf · 18/03/2010 20:33

his bottom will be red raw when he wakes up............it might even irritate him so that he wakes up anyway...

nickytwotimes · 18/03/2010 20:34

Hmm, I'd change it.
He'll only wake up with a sore bottom at 3am and it'll be welded on by then. Oh, and it'll HONK too.
Did this once with ds and he actually stayed asleep!

Jacksmama · 18/03/2010 20:34

Oh dear.
Will he get nappy rash if you leave it?
How long will he sleep? If he'll wake up in a bit, I'd wait until he does and then change it.
If he sleeps through... ewwwww.
I'd risk waking him and changing it. Or tomorrow morning you will have to chisel off dried-on poo.

smokinaces · 18/03/2010 20:34

does he sleep all night? are you talking leaving him an hour until he wakes for a feed, or until 6am tomorrow?

If its just an hour, leave him. Any longer please change him - nappy rash occurs from urine sitting on poo and he'll be as sore as anything if you leave him too long

its horrid when they do that so sympathise.

notnowbernard · 18/03/2010 20:35

Sorry to be blunt, but would YOU want to sleep in your own shit?!

Change him, he'll be red raw and in pain tomorrow if you don't

KurriKurri · 18/03/2010 20:35

No, he'll get sore. Can you do it very carefully - maybe he'll just stir a bit and drop off again.
Why do they always do that?

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 18/03/2010 20:35

He sleeps through. Right...am off to change him. Damn.

Change him. Better it take a bit of time to settle him back now rather than at 1am when he wakes up.

compo · 18/03/2010 20:36

Definitely change him
it's your job as a patent to keep him clean

compo · 18/03/2010 20:37

Good decision

lal123 · 18/03/2010 20:38

yup - definitely change him

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 18/03/2010 20:41

clever little boy stayed asleep! Except his sleepsuit remains unpoppered at the legs as he turned back over in protest.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/03/2010 20:44

Well done you

starkadder · 18/03/2010 20:45

well done Right decision.

Jacksmama · 18/03/2010 21:23

Oh well - better half naked than in a pooey nappy. Well done.
