to think a pushchair should last its duration?

We brought ds a loola for when he was born, it fitted with all our requirements and at £435 I would have thought it would have lasted more than 8 months!

The chassis is swaying from side to side, the straps dont fit and secure him safely in the chair, and the hood zip/teeth for the rain cover are broken.

Ive been given a dorel website address as Argos (brought chair from) are a pile of wanks, as they have discontinued loola from their ranges, and apparently I need to go through the manufacturers as it a design fault and not a faulty pushchair! PROBLEM IS THE WEBSITE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!

so now no pushchair as I cannot strap him in, soo off I freaking go to take ds1 to school and carry my 22Ib 11 oz child for a hour as his sling is not safe now due to his weight!

Im fuming, so much for the chair lasting me till age 4, my guarantee runs out next month and the way its going Im not going to get anywhere

As you bought it from Argos, I would take it back & get a refund, as it is faulty & under a year old.

At least then, you can buy a new pushchair.

Argos are great at returns and you can stick to (i think its the 1976) 1976 sale of goods act,that products have to be suitable for their use and last a reasonable period of time etc etc .

Ask for the manager and im sure you can resolve it.

Am I right in thinking loola is mamas and papas? if so i found them v good for returns.

Loola is Bebeconfort not M&P.
I know there was a problem with the straps and Mothercare were holding the correct longer (ie they fit) version and all you had to do was ask for them.

I would still go back to Argos though you bought it from them your contract iw with them.

Mind you I spent more than that on several pushchairs during DS' first year. I'm not a secret pram-hun he has SN which is why none of them suited him.

Argos wont take responsibility for it, as its not a a pushchair fault is a design fault

The reason we paid that much was because we are hoping to have another child when ds2 turns one.

Their is a fault with the straps that's my main issue, as it is not safe for him to travel in.

Ive tried to go on the bebe confort website to email, but it is unavailable, and also the one Argos gave me is also unavailable.

H.O at Argos refuses to do anything about it, just sick of all this and am worried that the guarantee will run out before we can get it sorted

Dorel is still a company and therefore should still have a website so no idea what on earth Argos have given you. They are actually based in Thetford Norfolk and Ive even been to pick something up from them so they do actually exist lol!

I work for Mothercare at weekends and I know we can contact Dorel really easily to get replacement parts etc and to get the extension straps for the Loola...no idea why they designed it like that!

Argos are talking crap basically. Yes the straps are a design of the pushchair so you should be able to get the extensions from Dorel but the chassis shouldn't be wobbling (it does have a certain amount of movement in it but definitely shouldn't wobble). I would go back to Argos and state the Sale of Goods act and demand that they do something.

I can try and get you the number for Dorel but aren't at work for a week now and you need this sorted quicker than that but will see what I can do for you.

Mine did exactly the same after 5 months. Please don't put your child in it anymore (I know you can't anyway) but the next step for us was the pushchair collapsing with my Ds in it.

Knew I wasn't going mad-the website is dorel.co.uk and the telephone number is 01842 763281. I still think argos should sort it out as you purchased the pushchair through them-we don't tell our customers to contact the supplier direct we do it for them (well I do anyway-can't speak for all employees!) but at least if you speak to Dorel they might be able to help.

NicksChick, 1979 Sale of Goods Act, . It's the same one that covers what happens if you buy a car that's not roadworthy, I now know to my cost.

If the chassis sways it is not fit for purpose & Argos should refund/exchange.

If there is a design fault that is down to the manufacturer.

Sounds as if you have 2 separate issues.

Argos gave me the www-dorel.com website, and the bebe confort website, when I go into English part of it, it says its unavailable

Thankyou ihearttc, will try them now, that's the chair straps issue, now just the problems with the chassis and the teeth rain cover issue to get sorted

Try Trading Standards at the council. They keep records of everything and can speak to Argos for you.Some companies are more receptive when TS get involved.

Also if you're having no luck with Argos or the manufacturer you might have better luck with your credit card company, assuming you paid by cc - they have equal liability with Argos for goods over 100 quid.

As others have said Argos need to issue you a refund - it is not your responsibility to chase the manufacturer.

Just demand a refund and if they refuse get Trading Standards involved - if it is by any chance over a year old then it should still be fit for purpose and I imagine than a small claim court action (very easy to do online here) would prompt a refund.

Can you take it to a different Argos than you've already tried? I would just keep taking it to different ones until they do. Your contract is with Argos.

YANBU! Looks like you've had a lot of good help here. It should definitely have lasted longer than that I hope you get it sorted. What sling were you using that is unsafe at such a low weight? And £435 I hope you get it all back and you can buy something new!

Update!

so good news is I got the FULL refund , after I threatened them with the sun shite and local paper and also TS, and quoted the 1979 sale of goods act (thanks ladies) and that they were not concerned about baby safety etc....

bad news is, as I brought the foot muff and changing bag (they didn't sell them) from kiddicare, they would not accept responsibility for them which tbh I am quite annoyed at, not sure if I am being UR their tbh.

Im annoyed as they knew the system was faulty, but did not want to acknowledge responsibility, and secondly I am now £135 out of pocket (well my mum is) with goods that I cannot use (decided we are not going to get another loola) so does anybody know if I can do, about the goods, with Argos, or is it EBAY! to see if I can get some £ back?

Think Ebay is a good bet. I have a Loola and have got various bits for it from there. The prices seem to go pretty high - I paid £25 for a new hood then £25 for the extension straps! Maybe was silly to go so high, but needed them urgently. If you look at the completed listings you will get a good idea of how much the various components go for.

i know how you feel littlemrshappy. i have a silvercross pop which snapped in half on one side causing the pram tho fold on one side whilst my ds was in it. he is fine but am in arguments with mothercare at the moment. glad to hear you got some money back. maybe you could write to customer services to explain that you are now stuck with all the extras.

littleMrsHappy ive had it 6 months but hardly use it as my son loves walking. they wont admit the pram is faulty and suggested i misused it ie buggy board, loading shopping on handlebars or maybe my child is over 15 kilos which he isnt after long emailing sessions they have finally agreed to send an engineer out to my home to check it is a fault. hope you have more luck with yours

Email Argos' boss, Terry Duddy. I can't recall for the life of me the exact email address but if you put, say, [email protected] and blind cc all the variations - terry.duddy, tduddy, t.duddy etc, the one which doesn't bounce back will be the one which reaches him. You should get a reply from Angie, his PA (buggered if I can recall her surname either I'm afraid!), and she is brilliant, going over and above the call of duty to help.

When I had a problem with an Argos cooker which the shop and helpline refused to rectify I did this and Angie sorted it, even calling me from home long after office hours to help me.

Your contract as per the Sale Of Goods Act is with the seller, Argos, not the manufacturer, so the staff at Argos are (not for the first time ime) fobbing you off with bull. I have a nasty feeling that they are trained to fob off like this tbh. However, as I said, a word in the right ear should help.
