Disclaimer first, no AIBU by stealth here!

I like baking, I enjoy it, it is relaxing.
I am on the PTA at DD1's school, I go to the coffee mornings every week and keep up to date with what is happening.
I am more than happy to help raise funds for the school.

BUT when I drop my DD off at school this morning I was not impressed to see a large A2 sign taped to the door saying

School Summer Bakesale,
Thursday and Friday
Donations needed by Wednesday 17th

No-one on the PTA knew about it, first anyone had heard of it was this sign.

That's not on surely?! Please tell me DD1's school is not the only useless place. They also have a book fair this week, which I got a letter home today about. It started yesterday FFS!

Nope they are taking the piss! Bad organisation!

The solution is to go to the nearest supermarket buy a cheap tray of plain cakes. Cut the tops out fill up the hole with chocolate spread / creamy stuff cut the spare bit in half stick back on top and pretend you made them from scratch....

The good news is if anyone gets sick you can blame asda

Don't have school age DCs yet but that sounds v lame and disorganized. Pshaw to them.

Are you actually going to bake? What happens to you if you don't?

JackBauer · 16/03/2010 20:25

I was planning on making a carrot cake for a friend to have at coffee as it's her birthday so tonight was going to be lost t baking, have shoved some cupcakes in and have some jelly flower things to shove on top.

But that's not the point

Not many people bake tbh, there are always a lot of Mr Kiplings boxes floating around teh playground in teh morning of a bakesale

Sounds bizarre! Who will be manning the stall if not the PTA? Why are they having a "summer" bakesale in March? And why do the cakes have to be in on Wed for a sale which continues to Friday?! They are going to be pretty dry fairy cakes by Friday - unless of course they come from Mr Kipling in which case they will have a sell-by date sometime next year!

JackBauer · 16/03/2010 20:33

annh, were you in the playground? That was basically how the conversations went!

Clearly organised by the same numpties who decided that my children are going on a school trip tomorrow... letters asking for consent and PAYMENT sent out this evening!

JackBauer · 16/03/2010 21:23

They are supposed to be going on a trip next Tuesday. I haven't paid the remainder or been reminded to, I don't even know what time it is (we have to go too) or if lunch is provided.
Helpful!

Must be wrong. Is it next term? There is no way its summer or summer term , at least where I am. Is there another Wed 17th in May or June?

JackBauer · 16/03/2010 22:01

Oh yes, speaking of healthy eating we got a pack from the Change For Life healthy eating government thing, along with the letter for the cake sale thing!

IN fairness it has been a bit sunny. Maybe it has just confused them

fgs, is it even Spring yet?

JackBauer · 18/03/2010 12:57

Oh goody. As if the last minute thing wasn't bad enough DD1 couldn't find the 20p I put in her bag(it had gotten caught up in a tissue), and neither could the teacher, so she had to stay with a TA in the classroom while the rest of them went up to buy cakes.
Last time they let those who had forgotten money have a small biscuit to make up for it.

Did I mention DD1 is 4.1? And still crying about it. grrrr.
