Mother's Day cards/gifts for God Mother?

Do you or don't you? I never have sent a card/gift to DD's GM. But having recently become a GM I have received the most lovely and thoughtful card from my new GD. Now I am not sure what is appropriate? Am I an unthoughtful skinflint for never thinking of DD's GM or is it not necessary?!

Never done it, never even thought of it! I don't think it's at all expected or usual, though obviously lovely of them to have thought of you.

It's stretching the concept to extend it to God Mothers, it sounds more like your God daughter liked the opportunity to contact you, especially if it was a recent thing. She sounds lovely

I have 4 goddaughters and it has never crossed my mind that I would get a Mother's Day type card off them. My DCs also have 2 Godmothers each and I have never given a thought to sending them a Godmother card on any day other than their Birthday or Christmas.

Did your Goddaughter make the card herself? Very thoughtful

one of my god daughters has always got me a card and flowers for Mothers day, and I really appreciate the thought, but never extend the same sentiment to my own childrens godmothers or grandmothers for that matter. I'm not tight just think it is "mothers" day. so imo only give to your mother or substitute mother.

Same goes for Easter cards, I have never sent them although I normally recieve several.

Please dont tell me they make cards especially for godmother?

MamaLazarou · 15/03/2010 13:22

I've never sent my Godmother a card on Mother's Day, even though I am closer to her than I am to my real mum!

lottiejenkins · 15/03/2010 13:25

I sent a text to my sons godparents and his social serrvices Link Mother wishing them a Happy Mothers Day from him!!

The dc have always sent cards to their one Godmother, because she really wanted children and it never happened. They are her substitutes, and she's golden with them.

Lou - she is 10 wks, s got her Mummy to Moonpig it! I was a bit worried I wasn't being very thoughtful to my DD's God Mother, so now I'm reassured! Thank you

No Mothers day is about pampering the person who would normally be running round looking after everyone and god Mothers don't do the daily chores so don't get breakfast in bed
