To get myself a glass of wine 'for inspiration' and leave the work?

I've had a lousy week work-wise (as is obvious from the amount of time I've been on here) and haven't got anything done. I'm trying to write my PhD and I have absolutely no clue about what to look at next. Just heard that two student friends have decided to throw it over and one's just had an offer from a top law firm instead. Another friend has just had confirmation from a publisher that her book will be published. I'm thrilled for her but dead scared I'm not going to finish this course and have nothing original to contribute.

Aaaaanyway, would it be so very bad to pour myself a nice glass of chilled white wine, but the West Wing on, and pretend I'm courting inspiration instead of getting mildly tipsy before DP comes home?

If you do, you will be on the rocky road to ruin, at the end of which you will find me.

I too have spent all day avoiding my PhD - and have a deadline approaching that quite frankly I have no hope of achieving. Think wine is a fab idea - cheers!

and the reason I am on mumsnet is because I am cough having a brain break from my essay.
clink!

JaneS · 12/03/2010 17:11

bramblebooks, it's not a brain break. It's a time when you use the stimulatory powers of wine to help you make the essay even better.
Honest.

Little - I have made several mistakes linking to real life and am keen to avoid any more (especially in vino veritas!). Suffice to say it is going no where fast and I am a qualitative researcher who is struggling with stats! I could scream!
