In thinking God was making a cruel joke when he created grapes

How can something so tasty have the consistency of a damn slug.

I have just spent the last few minutes dancing the dance of squeamishness and rage having stood on one in the kitchen, the damn things even look like slugs when they're squished on the floor, urgh!

It shows he has a sense of humour!!

Standing on slugs is yucky - I have done it once or twice - our old house used to get lots of slugs in it (or a few who really motored around at night making slug trails), and I quickly learned always to turn on the lights if I went downstairs at night!

gagamama · 12/03/2010 09:48

No, their squishiness is neccessary for wine so I'm not going to complain there.

SwissCheeseIsHolyCheesus · 12/03/2010 09:50

We get slugs here too, big buggers as well, hence the standing stock still looking like i'd had a pole rammed up me backside then moving onto the dance of squeam!

nannynobnobs · 13/03/2010 16:24

My DD1 chewed up a slug when she was a toddler... she spat it out on the living room floor swiftly followed by chucking up on her own feet!

Coldhands · 13/03/2010 16:30

YABU. I love grapes and now I am going to think about slugs when I eat them and it is all your fault!

DH remembers eating a snail from the garden when he was a nipper (shell and all). His auntie bent down to him and said "what are you eating, dear?" He said he still remembers the look of horror on her face when he stuck his tongue out and said "shnail .....".

Rollmops · 13/03/2010 18:26

Have you ever tried lychees or rambutans even?. My ex used to refer to them as 'eyeball fruit'.....[yuck]

nannynobnobs · 15/03/2010 15:59

I have tried a lychee once. Once was enough- it gave me the impression of biting into a testicle. The texture was just indescribably horrid

maristella · 15/03/2010 18:55

always thought lychees were like eyeballs...

nannynobnobs - oh my word!
myfaceisatomato - oh no!

this thread has given me a fear of toddlers

MeMudmagnet · 15/03/2010 19:25

OH NO!!

I have real slug phobia and now I won't be able to eat grapes!!
