Hi all,
Just a brief one. I live abroad and celebrated a landmark birthday yesterday.
From my mother I received a card and a promise of a gift when I saw her next (which I don't have a problem with).
However the only communication I received from her all day was a brief text message, no phone call.
She has no excuse, has access to a landline etc, so AIBU to be a bit miffed that she didn't make the effort to call me yesterday, of all days?
I double-checked the answerphone, missed calls on my mobile - nothing [sulk]

Happy landmark birthday!

Understandable to feel a bit miffed if she usually makes the effort!

A Very Happy Birthday from me too . No idea if yabu, but I'd probably be miffed too if it's any help! Maybe something happened yesterday & she got snowed under or something? Maybe you should call her to say thanks for the card & text message? I am sure she hasn't intentionally upset you!

YANBU. My mother is the same. She didn't even ring me or text me or anything on my 30th birthday last year. She sent a gift and card via my sister who came to see me a few days before, but that's all. She only lives about 5 miles away!!!! I am currently pregnant also and she hasn't shown any interest at all. She didn't even call me after my 20 week scan to ask how it had gone or to ask the sex (which she knew we were going to find out).
