To Shout At Meter Reader and Complain?

Back story - man came to read meter in evening late last year. Was about 6.30 when DD was winding down for bed, he buzzed three times, and then again! I was annoyed when I answered the door and said it was my little girls bedtime and once was enough.

A few days ago he comes and does again. Same buzz-buzz-buzz. I said it wasn't convenient, it was my daughter's bedtime and that I had given Scottish Power my readings that day.

Tonight at seven-fucking-fifteen he does it again!

I said "What have I told you about buzzing at this hour? I am going to complain about you."

I didnt hear his reply, I hung up to comfort DD who had just been drifting off to sleep

YANBU
Why are they calling at such a late hour?
I would complain to your supplier and if it is the same person offending then i would complain about him? Can you put a notice on your bell/buzzer that you don't want people ringing after a certain time?
I removed our doorbell after ds was born and now have selective hearing with regards to people knocking at a late hour.

YANBU I had a sales call at 11.05pm on a saturday! Ive worked in call centres and know that its illegal to call after 9pm.

I am sure that the meter reading people do not work for the suppliers - they are an independant firm and get paid by the house/flat reading. And i think that they can only come once a year to read the meters...

bit fuzzy on this info, sorry. They knock on my door and it seems to be every 3 months, but i give my readings to the supplier and tell them to go away. Why come at an inconvenient time???? Do you think it is their job description??

No idea but I am definitely going to complain, and get a new entryphone as this one is old with no off switch.
Good idea about the note on door, will do that

Some suppliers do request every 3 months, most are every 6, can't remember which are which though, meter man told me after I was complaining to him that it wasn't that long since it was last read!

You are being a bit unreasonable, the poor guy is only doing his job. I expect that they work these hours because most people are out during the normal working day.

I am so grateful my meters are outside the house!
