ridiculous argument over dinner

ok, DH just came in from work asked what was for dinner, I said that there was soup (root vegetable & thyme) with wholegrain bread or if he didnt fancy that there was yesterdays roast left over in the fridge which i would do him with veg, fresh mash and fresh yorkie puds. He just had a big strop - and has actually fucked off to the supermarket to get himself something else.

I didnt think he would want the soup - as "it isnt enough for him after work" - he doesnt do manual labour btw, he works in the city, probably hasnt had lunch but that isnt my problem... Anyway, he doesnt want the same food as yesterday...

so AIBU not to run a fucking hotel with full A la Carte menu of an evening or should i have transformed yesterdays pork into stroganoff like i was going to (he didnt know this) but i ran out of time, had to take DD to doctors, both DC to after school activities, dog to vets and home to make dinner.

sorry for mega long post, i am totally peed off.

There was actually some myth busting programme on tv a few years back. They made a veg meal, then used the same quantities to make soup and it was "scientifically proven" that soup filled you up for longer. They did give a reason, but I've slept since then!

I am in the sahm camp slightly as I have 2 at school and 1 at home. I also run my own business from home. I try to home cook every day and avoid jars etc, but I do agree that it does no harm to serve junk every so often so you don't end up being taken for granted. Also, before children we did exist on packets and jars and the freezer and it was fine, but now I have started home cooking I think I have spoilt us! Bit of a bugger some days.

Yes someone said that earier mowcop. I wonder if it's because the soup is easier to digest to you get more calories overall or something.

I'd still have had the roast

Well, last night I made some Moroccan mince and I have some left over. I am going to make a soup called harira by adding beans, broken pasta, herbs and some carrots. We will have it with bread.

There are some hearty soups which will be great as a whole meal with lots of bread. I think some of the people on here are thinking of the sort of soups which are served as a starter, light soups or soups like consomme. Some soups are liquidy stews. And Cullen Skink with loads of fish is certainly adequate as a main course. Even lentil and bean is very filling.

In any case, re-heated roast with fresh yorkshires, fresh mash, and fresh veggies isn't leftovers! YANBU

lol mowcop - i really didnt expect this thread to rile so many. but it made me feel better at the time.

Maybe I will try a thick 'stew' type soup and call it something else, that might work.
