To think that playing loud music in a flat EVER after 11PM should be punishable by INSTANT eviction?!

because after 19 years of living in them I'm getting a bit fed up of the groundhog day that is a fuckwit, discourteous neighbour in every single place we've lived.

Is it that hard to suss out?! When you live in a flat, loud music disturbs other people.

Get wireless headphones.

Or turn it off!

As for 'They're drunk' as an excuse, so? I was drunk every night for the better part of a few years and still realised that no one wants to hear my damn music.

FFS.

I'll include terraced houses in this, too, since I know some of you have been driven demented by this in terraced houses as well.

MamaG · 06/03/2010 07:16

Oh mate I feel your pain - I went thtrough HELL in a terraced house with those ignorant twats

It is just so ignorant

It enrages me, it really does

expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:21

Am starting to seriously consider emigrating in order to live in a detached home again.

That is how fucking fed up I am of rude fucking people.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 06/03/2010 07:23

do they rent? My tenants have a clause saying they can't play music loudly after a certain time. Can you make notes, complain to EH.

expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:24

It's a housing association flat.

OP posts:
weegiemum · 06/03/2010 07:24

oh expat I know how you feel

Or, I would add, playing exceptionally loud music at night in the Scout Hut 50 yds from peoples homes till 1am!

expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:25

I'm mainlining coffee here. It's my turn to get up with wee man. He was up for 6.20.

Am so damn sick of other peoples' music it's not true.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:26

I like Paolo Nutini, just not at 1AM from a flat two floors down and across the stair.

Yes, it was that loud.

piscesmoon · 06/03/2010 07:28

There is nothing worse than other people's noise. YANBU.

MamaG · 06/03/2010 07:29

What do the HA say? surely there is some rule

expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:29

Thing is, you can report people, get them evicted, etc. All that happens is eventually some other inconsiderate piece of shit moves in.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:31

HA has you log it.

So that usually means you put up with noise for weeks before they act on it.

I think all tenancies should come with a 'you play loud music past 11PM you get evicted'.

I really think it would solve a lot of problems and save a lot of misery for a whole hell of a lot of people.

Bicnod · 06/03/2010 07:31

Poor you I hate it when people are so bloody inconsiderate.

When I was 18 I once made my knuckles bleed hammering on the door of the twat in the flat downstairs who insisted on having his shoot 'em up films on so loud throughout the night that my bed would vibrate with the noise. I had to get up for work at 6.30am and his noise used to drive me crazy.

I laughed heartily when he left his window open and his TV and stereo got nicked

expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 07:33

Oh, yes, include blaring TVs in that, too.

mehdismummy · 06/03/2010 07:33

My dream is to live in a detached house with land. This is primarily because I have so little tolerance of other people's noise. Not likely to happen any time soon as I work for a charity and DH works for the NHS, but I live in hope that our premium bonds will come up oneday

Our current neighbour has been having work done to his flat for about 4 months. For some reason the workmen have been hammering on DS's bedroom wall (the other side) pretty much continuously (or so it feels) for those 4 months. Especially at naptime. How much work can be done to one sodding wall ffs?!

bernadetteoflourdes · 06/03/2010 09:13

This sounds like our old flat in Earls Court. We had a bitch in the basement flat who came home from work at 2.30 AM (it is etched in my memory, the time) she was a Night Club Singer and would put on the same track on a loop (All Night Long by Lionelf-ing Ritchie) and sing along drunkenly. She had not a proper garden more like a little lightwell patio thing (her pride and joy, she spent a fortune geting Clifton Nurseries to deck it out and plant it up for her,) and she was lower basement flat if you can believe it, on a hot summer night with eveyone barely sleeping with windows open boy! how that sound travelled. Appealing to her better nature did not cut the mustard writing and calling the old bill did not work either. DH was a veritable zombie as he had to rise at 6.00 each day and hack north up m25 to Watford. It put a f-ing strain on our relationship as we were so damned tired and snappy. So if you are reading this 18 years later Tracey it was me who chucked the entire contents of my Miss Dylon Midnight Black permanent shoe dye over our balcony and producing a direct hit onto your white garden accessories, floor, wall etc. Revenge is sweet coz I heard your cocking indignant whine on discovering it the next day when you arose at 3 chuffing pm.

JaneS · 06/03/2010 09:32

bernadette - oh, my. That revenge is indeed sweet! Wish I could have done similar for the w*er who used to practice his amped guitar every morning and evening in the room below me. He wasn't even any good ... grrr.

differentnameforthis · 06/03/2010 09:36

I think it goes for anywhere, tbh.

There is a beach here for cars, and why do the owners of said cars think we want to listen to their music while relaxing on the beach?

Why do people think we want to hear their noise, full stop!

bernadetteoflourdes · 06/03/2010 09:42

@littlered sweet and v.cathartic indeed .No guilt pangs, remorse or anything, amazing really wot wiv ma saintly name an all

Janos · 06/03/2010 09:49

Y are so NBU. I have a dear friend who has suffered all sorts of stress due to fuckwit neighbours carrying on like this.

at your story bernadette.

abride · 06/03/2010 09:50

YANBU. Selfish in the extreme.

expatinscotland · 06/03/2010 10:45

I wouldn't have felt bad about doing that, bernadette.

I'm so sick and tired of how inconsiderate people are.

Is there any way you could re arrange your living space so it doesn't impinge as much? In my old flat, my bedroom was directly underneath their living room, so swapped around a bit and it helped.

Although upstairs neighbors used to play, 'The Carpenters' late at night and am still traumatized by Muscrat Love.
