To want to send DS to school dressed as Aneurin Bevan?

As part of a fund-raiser DS has to go to school as a celebrity. Not any old sleb but one "famous for something that has helped mankind or demonstrated human endeavour and determination". According to the Head,
these types of celebrities or famous people would be suitable:
Louis Pasteur, Marco Polo, Anne Frank, Vincent Van Gogh, Mary Seacole, Marie Curie, Emily Pankhurst, Kelly Holmes, Amy Williams, Beethoven, Johnny Dankworth and President Obama. ..

DS is 4. I suspect this is a pointless exercise but ho hum. I'm quite liking the idea of Nye Bevan but am open to other suggestion.

Love the Nye Bevan idea! Have no idea what he looks like though..but probably guaranteed there'll be no other Nye Bevans to steal his thunder.

How about Einstein - that would be quite easy to sort, costume wise, and could be quite a laugh for your DS.

southeastastra · 04/03/2010 19:13

brunel would be easier, you'd only need a top hat and fag

TheHouseofMirth · 04/03/2010 19:14

Yes that was the only downside of Bevan. He looked like this.

I'm liking Einstein. Someone else suggested Satre...

for 4 year olds?!
i suppose van gogh, complete with a bottle of absinthe and one ear.

uberalice · 04/03/2010 19:16

Michael Foot ?

Caitni · 04/03/2010 19:17

A four year old dressed as Sartre - the existential possibilities boggle my mind!

Brunel's a good one as well.

KurriKurri · 04/03/2010 19:18

Does your DS resemble Nye Bevan in any way? - if not he'll need a name badge saying who he is. (actually he'll probably need one even if he's the spitting image of Nye Bevan.)

Great idea though - I'd say go for it.

deleting · 04/03/2010 19:18

ernest shackleton

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 04/03/2010 19:20

Is the Head serious?!

I suggest Cheryl Cole, for showing the determination she did to "fight, fight, fight, fight for your love", and the endeavour required to get to the top of Kilimanjaro.

deleting · 04/03/2010 19:20

ghandi (might get cold though)

Caitni · 04/03/2010 19:27

How about Socrates?

BadGardener · 04/03/2010 19:30

who is Amy Williams?

bernadetteoflourdes · 04/03/2010 19:35

This is another spoof right? 4yr old dressed as John Dankworth I now many 40 yr olds who would not know how he looked RIP. Come on, I know March is the month for mad hares but really. What sort of school does your dc attend Rudolf Steiner?

SixtyFootDoll · 04/03/2010 19:36

Where do these schools get their ideas. FFS!
DS has to go in tomorrow in a white shirt decorated in 'items form Welsh HEritage'
Jeez.

nickytwotimes · 04/03/2010 19:37

Pmsl at this idea of your Head's.

WHy not massage head's ego and send ds in as him/her?

bernadetteoflourdes · 04/03/2010 19:37

Amy Williams did she sing"Knock on Wood"?

KurriKurri · 04/03/2010 19:40

Edmund Hillary or Sherpa Tensing - swimming goggles, a woolly hat and an anorak- Bob's your Uncle.

Jesus - stick on beard, sheet, sandals.

TheHouseofMirth · 04/03/2010 20:11

KurriKurri he's 4 so I hope he doesn't resemble Nye Bevan!

Bernadetteoflourdes that was Amii Stewart. Amy Williams was our gold medalist at the Olympics...

No, it's all perfectly serious & DS goes to normal primary. Must admit as much as I love jazz I sam hard-pushed to equate Johnny Dankworth's achievements with those of Louis Pasteur!

Am liking Brunel. Or anything which would involve him having to wear a beard.

See now I'm thinking Karl Marx.

SpringHeeledJack · 04/03/2010 20:19

bernadetteoflourdes · 04/03/2010 20:23

house of mirth yes well remembered. Che Guevara, Bobby Sands, Ulrika Meinhof. Leila Khaled (sorry tasteless I know! But my sis went to a facy dress party dressed as Ulrika Meinhof she looked greeat!

TottWriter · 04/03/2010 20:47

Howard Florey? Mind you, he was a little indistinct too.

Alternatively, if Marco Polo is on the list, what about the Emperor he went to visit, Kublai Khan.

It would be a little more distinctive than modern me in suits.

TheHouseofMirth · 04/03/2010 20:51

I suppose Jesus did have a beard...trouble is DS goes to a C of E school and we are committed heathens so it might be a tad impolitic.

TottWriter · 04/03/2010 21:00

That is to say, modern men
