Why do they make contestants buy things at overpriced antique fairs and then sell at auctions attended mainly by savvy dealers? Surely it shoukd be the other way round?!It drives me mad everytime it's on.

I'm on maternity leave, by the way

so right, they never make a profit!

That auctioneer is getting a bit carried away is he not.
Is it a new thing showing the negotiations with the stall holder then?

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/03/2010 12:55

I totally agree with you, and I haven't even got the excuse of maternity boredom!

Who on earth thought of the concept where you buy something retail and sell it wholesale.

Dirtgirl · 03/03/2010 12:55

Yes, that's not how it works. I worked in a gallery selling victorian paintings for years, we always snurked at those progs.

I guess it does make it more of a challenge though.

It must be the only competition where a minus "score" is a winning one!!

What about QI JemL? Set off the sirens too many times and everyone is in minus points

JemL · 03/03/2010 13:04

Ahh, good point Trilian that's true...but Stepehen Fry is a national treasure...

Bargain Hunt indeed is madness. (and what´s it whith this guy´s teeth????!!!)

Stephen Fry is great, but talks about willies and putting things up one´s bottom on EVERY SINGLE episode.

(I guess you can tell I am not British, as I do not get the seriously bad teeth thing on TV presenters, and the ho-ho-putting-things-up-your-bottom-ho-ho thing. If anyone could explain?....)
