HI There,
I'm new to this site but wouold be grateful for some advice. A relative of moine os getting married in ireland soon, I am 23 weeks pregnant and have two small kids. The kids arent invited and all my family will be at the wedding so I've got no childcare( that the kids would know so i have declined to go and am getting a bit of stick for it. my sister is getting married there in August and I have to go to that( not long after the baby is born). Am I being unreasonable??
I work full time and am finding this pregnancy difficult but should I just go?

I wouldn't. Doesn't sound that selfish to me.

YANBU. What do they (the people giving you stick) expect you to do with your children?

paisleyleaf · 02/03/2010 18:04

yanbu, and shouldn't be getting stick.

God Knows! They have no idea! I'm not happy leaving them with someone they dont know I know that might sound pathetic but I know I would be worrying all day

No, I don't think this is selfish. I totally understand why people have child-free weddings, but they have to accept that people with tiny babies/people who need to travel long distance and stay overnight/people who don't live near family members who can babysit may be unable to attend as a result.

No, hold your ground. YANBU.

Call the bride directly and explain that you just can't do it, that the DC can't be left.

Could you offer to pop over and make it up to the bride when you are over there in August?
