Not to take DS1 to the doctor

DS1 is 6, and has been unwell since Thursday. When I say unwell, he has very few symptoms, but is generally out of sorts, not eating much and sleeping a lot more than usual. He has a slight rash, but I did the glass test to be on the safe side and it did fade. He is drinking plenty of water and going to the toilet regularly, and when he is awake is just a more subdued version of his usual self. I'm pretty sure he has some sort of virus, possibly slap cheek, as he did have the marks on his cheeks over the weekend. He is generally brighter today, and so all being well I am hoping he can go back to school tomorrow or Thursday.

DP thinks that as he has been unwell for 5/6 days, I should take him to the doctor. I think that given his symptoms, it is unlikely the doctor could do anything, and I don't think it is worth a doctor's visit.

AIBU not to take him to the doctor?

YANBU. If it had been going on for a week or two I might say otherwise, but given that he's just out of sorts I doubt very much that a doctor would actually do anything.

My parents are like your dp - if you've been ill for more than 3 or 4 days you go to the doctor, I've never been quite sure why though!

he probably has a low level viral infection and his body is doing a good job of fighting it off. Probably a good idea to take him out for some fresh air. Maybe some muti-vitamins as he might be simply run down. I wouldnt go to the docs either because there is nothing specific, if it carries on for a couple of weeks or recurrs then yes, take him along, might be aneamic or somehing.
