to not want my FIL to stay because he snores...

My father in law snores so loudly that he stops us sleeping. The noise is so loud we can hear it really strongly even though the spare room they sleep in is on the floor above our bedroom and not directly over our bedroom. Honestly it's absolutely awful. Don't know how my MIL sleeps next to him.

They have invited themselves to stay at our house this week, we never invite them because they only live 20 miles away and there's really no reason for them to stay over. But my FIL insists.

I'm not happy at the prospect. We have a 20 week old baby so sleep is precious.

I want them to see and spend time with my son, but am I being unreasonable to not want them to stay?

Ear-plugs?

StrawberryAddict · 01/03/2010 17:11

nice idea, but then I don't hear our baby wake up.

Oh you'll hear the baby, ear-plugs or no. It's only men that don't hear babies. They always seem to hear if you whisper something about a blow-job though. Funny, that.

Why didn´t someone say no when they invited themselves?

Would one/two night´s stay be acceptable as a compromise?

If they fuss, tell them the truth.

I feel your pain. My DF snores terribly, so much so that we tend to make day trips to visit rather than staying over. When we do stay I always mention it and he says I'm making it up. My poor mum!
