Which ds? What subject!?
IME, Geog teachers are the worst for not marking books. Is it geog?

BitOfFun · 01/03/2010 17:13

It's a pain, isn't it? My dd(13) did a big project on Romeo and Juliet before Christmas, but the teacher went off on maternity leave and the stand-in hasn't read the play . It will probably never get marked.

MrsPotiphar · 01/03/2010 17:14

Lol at the slack Geography teachers

Not exactly motivating for them, is it?

MrsC2010 · 01/03/2010 17:25

Oh to be a geograpghy teacher in that case, in English they need 3 pieces of assessed work per half-term...and in the other school I worked at every piece of work the their draft book (i.e.: even copied work) has to be marked! Now that takes forever...essays etc.

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 01/03/2010 17:28

MrsC - me too. English is a bugger for marking.

But not as dull as geog obv, they just can't face marking the stuff they've set

MrsPotiphar · 01/03/2010 17:53

maybe.
anyhoo its NOT Ok

That a long time not to mark, am

MrsC2010 · 01/03/2010 18:08

Does he do any work on paper that wouldn't be in his book? I mean, do they do great long projects or whatever that might be elsewhere? I suspect not but you never know.

MrsPotiphar · 01/03/2010 18:58

no

ahem I teach the most amazing subject that is Geography and all my books are comment marked at least once a half term with students specific strengths and targets..unless the little darlings 'forget' to hand their books in when they are supposed to!

So don't tar us all with the same brush. ta v much.

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 01/03/2010 19:04

Hi Lucy

Lucycat · 01/03/2010 19:10

Hi gherkin (giving stern over glasses stare)

ahundredtimes · 01/03/2010 19:13

How weird. I SWEAR I was looking through ds's books last night, and geography was the only one with only one comment. From the start of the year. I PROMISE.

I think they do a lot of work on paper maybe? Or maybe outside? lol

ahundredtimes · 01/03/2010 19:14

Sorry, for loling at outside.

wastwinsetandpearls · 01/03/2010 19:16

yes I would complain, I spend my bloody life marking and those geographers always look to relaxed?

What part of the country? - I am just wondering if I should prepare myself for the company of a defensive geography department tomorrow.

giveitago · 01/03/2010 19:17

Oh god - this kind of thing actually got me a good education thus!

junior teacher furious my worke (maths) unmarked for so long (oh - that's her fault isn't it?) as a punishment for me instead of marking it she decides I'm thick and sends me for remedial maths.

I am ashamed - my dad marks my work for me and I'm ok - don't need remedial maths but his view is 'hey - you're being tutored'. I passed my 11+ on that.

I had last laugh.

See if this goes in your favour.

ahundredtimes · 01/03/2010 19:18

I went asked. He said 'it's okay'

I said, 'I know. I'm just asking'

he said, 'we do worksheets. we hand them in to him'

we are content.

mii · 01/03/2010 19:21

is there a lot of work in the book?

BlauerEngel · 01/03/2010 19:32

We had the world's laziest maths teacher. Had her for 4 years at secondary school and she didn't mark the books ONCE. I could have been writing any old rubbish in my book, and given how crap I am at maths now, presumably it was rubbish, but she neither knew nor cared .
