Now I know I am likely to be hung up drawn and quartered but...........
On two occasions I happened to be out walking at school pick up time since ds 3.5 and dd 1.5 have come along!
First time due to cars being parked on the pavement like totally on the pavement I had to push the buggy onto the road just to navigate past!
Second time was today lovely sunny day thought good idea to take children out on bikes (fresh air and exercise being recommend) (and to stop them driving
me bananas) on the way home pushing dd and ds bike had again had to go on road just to get past!!!

Now I understand nowhere to park but omg this is parents picking up their children surely they can see what a danger this poses?!?!? Am I being unreasonable to ask parents to think about the pedestrians who are supposed to be able to use the pavements?????!!!!

they should bring in a temporary ban on your licence for 2 weeks if they catch anyone doing this haha, now that would teach the buggers

Bigmomma - do you also think old people shouldn't get on buses in the rush hour ?

It's not just outside schools though, down residential roads, people with no drives often park half on the pavement so two cars can get past.

REALLY annoying when you have a double buggy as well you might as well give up and just walk on the road. Or if you want to hold your two childrens hands and walk at the same time.

i know riven quite pleased with myself for coming up with that maybe the PM reads this site

BigMomma3 · 01/03/2010 17:35

Err my point was that if it bothers you that much and you know you may have a problem with cars on the sidewalk, don't go out at that time if you don't have to . Of course anyone can go out whenever they like. Thought that was pretty obvious!

Get a life.

we don't have sidewalks. We have pavements which are meant for pedestrians not cars. Maybe bigmomma comes from a different culture?

Thx tiredmummy I was thinking the same things just not sure how to put it!!

I will endeavour not to take my toddlers out at this time again lol!

I believed it to be a criminal offence to park on the pavement?

I think it is very selfish to park on the pavement - just so you can park right next to the school.

If you have to drive then find somewhere legal and safe to park - even if it does involve a 5-10minute walk to get to the gates. But of course, that means making the effort!
