This blonde decides one day that she is sick and tired of all these
blonde jokes and how all blondes are perceived as stupid. So, she
decides to show her husband that blondes really are smart.

While her husband is off at work, she decides that she is going to paint
a couple of rooms in the house. The next day, right after her husband
leaves for work, she gets down to the task at hand.

Her husband arrives home at 5:30 and smells the distinctive smell of
paint. He walks into the living room and finds his wife lying on the
floor in a pool of sweat. He notices that she is wearing a heavy parka
and a leather jacket at the same time. He goes over and asks her if she
if OK. She replies yes. He asks what she is doing and she replies that
she wanted to prove to him that not all blonde women are dumb, and she wanted to do it by painting the house.

He then asks her why she has a parka over her leather jacket. She
replies that she was reading the directions on the paint can and it
said....

You'll love this...

"FOR BEST RESULTS, PUT ON TWO COATS."

lol

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 27/02/2010 09:12

Yes I do find it offensive.

crankytwanky · 27/02/2010 09:13

I chuckled.

crankytwanky · 27/02/2010 09:15

I should say I'mnot easily offended though. I was born in Chelmsford. I know loads of Essex girl jokes.

Cobblers · 27/02/2010 09:16

It's not offensive just a bit rubbish. Could see the punch line coming a mile off.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 27/02/2010 09:18

I quite like the two coats bit. I like a crap joke.

Could just do without the more obvious problematic bit you're intending to discuss here.

overweightnoverdrawn · 27/02/2010 09:24

no discussion I just thought it wss funny and wanted to pass it on .

So why did you put it in AIBU? It's the place for picking an argument!

mememe30 · 27/02/2010 09:32

I didn't realise AIBU was for picking an arguement. I thought it was just to get other peoples honest opinions. I'm new on mumsnet and was wondering why people were being so nasty to each other on those discussions!!

shockers · 27/02/2010 09:32
Grin
crankytwanky · 27/02/2010 09:34

Yeah if you post here you're just asking for a debate on whether blondes are vilified and if it's ever acceptable to make jokes referring to peoples race/nationality/hair colour.

You will get the "I'm mortally offended" lot.
And the "oh ffs, grow up" brigade.
Then someone will say "won't someone think of the gingers!?"

Then it will get nasty if anyone tries to tell a joke as an example.

Must...not...get...drawn in!

Must...leave...house....

crankytwanky · 27/02/2010 09:43

Oh bollox.

So, Rubes, you could say that as the most powerful man in the world is a person of colour, jokes about black people are ok?

coolma · 27/02/2010 09:48

^^ what an excellent point and start for a debate...

kinnies · 27/02/2010 09:55

Bloody good point cranky!
Had not looked at it like that.

I'm blond and still find it funny. Could be that I'm 'a bit blond' offten though

Tell it about Boris Johnson then - he overheard one of his servants saying that he was so spoiled that he couldn't do anything practical... rest of joke.

I'm blonde and found the joke quite funny myself!

2old4thislark · 27/02/2010 11:10

Funny

TyraBanks · 27/02/2010 11:14

Just a bit lame really.

squashedfrogs · 27/02/2010 11:18

I laughed. I'm blonde and from Essex. When I was 18 it was the era of Essex Girl jokes and they were everywhere. I then went to Oz for a year, thought I'd escaped them and pretty much heard all the same jokes but being about blondes instead of Essex girls. On the whole I have a chuckle and tend not to get offended.

nickelbabe · 27/02/2010 11:18

i'm blonde.

i don't get it.

i thought that she was very sensible following the instructions on the can.
why is that dumb?
