I used to have the tv on in the background but ds has An Aversion to tv so it probably only goes on around 9pm when ther are specific things I want to watch.
When my mum comes to stay she has it on all the time - any old guff she can find she'll watch. Beat the bailiff, anyone? Road wars?

It reminds me of growing up and the odd occasion my mum would declare the tv was going off and we were to read, play board games etc (usually sunday afternoon) - it was bloody depressing cos we weren't used to the lack of background noise. Always felt like someone had died.

I'm not smug about not having the tv on cos it just happened that way but I'm bloody glad not to rely on it like my family used to.

Yes the urge to die almost becomes overwhelming every time I'm unfortunate enough to momentarily tune into Radio 4.

TheFoosa · 25/02/2010 17:53

love mad men anytime

southeastastra · 25/02/2010 17:53

one of the best things ever is watching films alone during the day. we live in england, what else is there to do on a day off in winter?!

TheFoosa · 25/02/2010 17:54

yes it is ALWAYS raining

LetThereBeRock · 25/02/2010 17:57

And what's wrong with leather sofas? I want one, instead of this fabric monstrosity that dp was fobbed off with inherited, that's near impossible to clean and whose hideousness he barely has to look at as he only lives here two days of the week.

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2010 17:59

Hullygully · 25/02/2010 18:10

I agree. It's a hanging offence.

upahill · 25/02/2010 18:11

I'm going to have to record Loose Women (to watch after 6.00pm obviously ) I'm missing alsorts by the sound of it. Another thread was on about Malteasers sponsoring it and little malteaser adverts - never seen them.

cyb · 25/02/2010 18:13

In the evening I lounge on the sofa wearing my wide legged jazz pants and a loose top (sans bra) and devour American Idol (final 12's),

cyb · 25/02/2010 18:14

I have a large flat screen, TWO large leather sofas and have been wearing trackie bottoms all week when I've done nothing but mumsnet/internet and daytime tv after rolling out of bed at midday and having a fry up for breakfast. I'm not ashamed. I've thoroughly enjoyed the crime programs I've caught on Sky and the news and yes even loose women and JK that I don't usually get time to watch.

I'd rather do that than arrange flowers!

JeremyVile · 25/02/2010 18:16
