someone says that my son will grow out of his allergies?

he is nearly 14, has a long complicated list of food and environmental allergies, so hope
of outgrowing is fast fading for some, and not going to happen for others.

when we are going through a patch of reactions, which mean dashes to hospital, to unknown allergens, and nights spent watching him closely,
i am feeling more than worn out.

so when people, start cheerfully saying , well he will grow out of them , i really, really have to GRIT my teeth.
we have had that dream world stripped from our eyes, and this sort of comment, no matter how well intentioned, just grates.esp when we may be dealing a new or more allergen.

sorry, am being unreasonable really, but cant help it.

No, you're entitled to a rant. People mean well, but that must be infuriating.

Total sympathy. DS is 8 and I've told people to stop saying it, as it's less and less likely as time goes on. Plus it really upsets him, I'd rather he got on with coping rather than (probably) false hope. You need a bloody thick skin, don't you!

What do I do about him desperately wanting to be a chef though?
