You probably know this but 'Milton Keynes' came from the names of 2 economists - Myanard Keynes and Milton Friedman - I think - A' level economics was a V long time ago......

Agree Boden is hideous - as people will think 'poncey clothes' not 'place in Sweden' i've never heard of!

LittleMrsHappy · 23/02/2010 17:42

Im OK lol, I just dislike a child name being ridiculed, more so when its a traditional name.

But as you were

SirBoobAlot · 23/02/2010 17:44

StrictlyKatty · 23/02/2010 18:05

sexydomesticateddad you know Jock Stirrup is actually called Graham right?! Jock is just a military nickname. Everyone is Paddy, Scouse, Taff etc in the military

SirBoobAlot · 23/02/2010 18:09

Cheers Belle Bit more creative than my old one...

posieparker · 23/02/2010 18:10

I know a Jack Frost and a Jack Russell. My mother's friend was very close to calling her baby Ivor...her surname was ordinary but the baby's father was called Locock....she hadn't considered the baby should take his father's name!!

EggyAllenPoe · 23/02/2010 18:14

sirboobalot DS would be called Kitchen Floor

as this is Mumsnet, surely that would be 'ProperOakflooringnoneofthatlaminatecrap'?

or indeed

'firedearthTilessweetyThatTilelocstuffjustisn'tthe same?'

fuzzywuzzy · 23/02/2010 18:19

apparently Boden really is a boys name its of scandanavian origin....

Prolly like Zara, you'd think the shop, I think pretty girls name!

EggyAllenPoe · 23/02/2010 18:25

what do you think of Aibu as a name?

or if they were twins, Aibu and Yanbu?

ConnorTraceptive · 23/02/2010 18:33

I went to school with a Pamela Panther - I'm sure she must be a porn star now with a name like that. Also know a Bambi

SexyDomesticatedDad · 23/02/2010 18:35

Katty - didn't know that - maybe they just make up military names, like Captain Darling, Major Fuck Up etc but why choose Jock and not something else....how do the newsreaders keep a straight face.

CathyBurns · 23/02/2010 18:37

I know an Anakin

tulpe · 23/02/2010 18:39

At my graduation ceremony, a fellow graduate had the name Robin Bastard not on my course......but feck me, did we fall about laughing when his name was called out

It makes you wonder what on earth the parents are thinking!

Sunshinemummy · 23/02/2010 18:42

I know a Warwick - he's in his 30s though.

NoahAndTheWhale · 23/02/2010 18:43

Mercedes the car was called after a girl called Mercedes wasn't it?

illgetyoubutler · 23/02/2010 18:43

i once met a Cinnamon.
she suited the name perfectly, beautiful brown skinn and very pretty.

verytellytubby · 23/02/2010 18:44

I love the name Isis. I was gutted one of my twin boys wasn't a girl!

I went to school with a Mercedes and Porche as well. Their dad was car mad

verytellytubby · 23/02/2010 18:51

I've got an unusual name as well and also had a Star and Merlin in my class. Teacher didn't bat an eyelid.

thehillsarealive · 23/02/2010 19:06

verytt - mercedes car was actually named after Mr Benz daughter called Mercedes, so in that case the car came first.

I think Verbaudet sounds like Verity - a name that i really like, but never used to. My tastes must have changed.

My RL name is a bit unusual, or probably more regional/national than unusual, but i hate it, wish someone had told me that i could use my middle name which i like, but too late now isnt it?

ROFL @ AIBU and YANBU... catchy, very catchy

lindy100 · 23/02/2010 19:09

My mate swears down she teasches a kid called Dkny... (pronounced to rhyme with 'bikini').
