DD has just started at the local nursey attached to a school and here are a few of the names.

Boden... i kid you not
Denim...maybe too much gas and air???
isis...strange but pretty

When i heard the teacher call Boden i nearly pissed myself and so glad i didnt say anything out loud because his mum was standing infront of me.

what is their to be a WTF reaction about.
Boden is a very old and traditional name in France and scandinavian.

Just because their is a clothing range, does not mean that people calling them after the clothing line.

or should we not call people George anymore, due to George Asda clothing line?

Im sorry I find it very bizarre reaction to a name.

mishmashmoon · 23/02/2010 17:16

Oh Littlemrshappy it is a lightharted thread. It's funny!!!

BarbaMamma · 23/02/2010 17:17

Boden is the name of a place in Sweden, so up there with Brooklyn and Georgia I suppose. Maybe they just haven't heard of catalogue shopping? It can also mean 'the shed', which isn't very glam, but could be explained this - a place of shelter (covered in large multicoloured polkadots, presumably).

noktok · 23/02/2010 17:18

Boden is also a surname

LittleMrsHappy · 23/02/2010 17:19

I dont think its funny, sorry I dont, your mocking a name and had to contain yourself, even tho that name has been around for years, way past the boden name range.

Anyway I will leave you to mock in a lighthearted way

MillyMollyMoo · 23/02/2010 17:20

We have a Fox in our school, parents met on the Xfiles forum

FatBoySwim · 23/02/2010 17:21

LittleMiss - it is not your child called Boden is it?

Methinks we have found the mum - for the OP

FatBoySwim · 23/02/2010 17:22

Sorry LittleMrs not Miss

mishmashmoon · 23/02/2010 17:22

mishmashmoon · 23/02/2010 17:23

Whats funny is Boden's mum is very posh and denim's parents are very chavvy.

I suppose you have to be there to see whats funny about it.

OP posts:
LittleMrsHappy · 23/02/2010 17:23

No it is not my child. I can have a opinion about something that is not directly related to me.

psychomum5 · 23/02/2010 17:23

My DD1 went to a pre-prep school with a Rome and Paris (brother and sister), Atlanta, plus a Mercedes and Porche (sisters).

I also know of a Zephra (american car if I have been told correctly??), and I also wet to school with a Milton Keynes!

I hated my name growing up as that was unusual enough, but at least I wasn;t named after a car or country/city.

SirBoobAlot · 23/02/2010 17:24

As its a place in Sweeden, maybe they have done the "naming after places of conception" thing

mishmashmoon · 23/02/2010 17:25

@ milton keynes that is awful

OP posts:
mishmashmoon · 23/02/2010 17:26

Undercovamutha · 23/02/2010 17:27

I am generally a fan of traditional names, but i was very tempted to go for Warwick for DS! DH overruled me though - which I am glad of!

FatBoySwim · 23/02/2010 17:28

why has the name Boden hit such a raw nerve then LMH ? Got to be a connection somewhere or else you have odd names for your dc.

Deffo something in it.

SirBoobAlot · 23/02/2010 17:29

DuelingFanjo · 23/02/2010 17:29

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 23/02/2010 17:30

wastingaway · 23/02/2010 17:30

Denholm Elliot is a very well respected actor.

I probably would have giggled, but they're not really that wacky I'm afraid.

psychomum5 · 23/02/2010 17:30

@ honda and civic......very classy......maybe something Posh spice could aspire to.......

mine would be.....new forest, cornwall, bedroom, bedroom and cornwall again.....talk about confusing!

SirBoobAlot · 23/02/2010 17:33

I think (was rather drunk) DS would be called Kitchen Floor...

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 23/02/2010 17:36

isis is an egyptian god of war (??) according to ds. I wonder if little Boden gets a discount?
