Seriously though...if AIBU was deleted, would anybody know where to put anything any more?!

DecorHate · 20/02/2010 23:25

It is starting to annoy me that people are putting everything in chat or AIBU now - so even if I have hidden certain topics I can't entirely avoid them iyswim.
And yes some people seem incapable of deciding what to have in their sandwich without consulting MN

hunkermunker · 20/02/2010 23:26

ROFL!

AIBU not to be able to decide if I should have jam or Marmite?

Gawd, that does sound like a thread, actually...!

wineslurper · 20/02/2010 23:27

well i have never started an AIBU thread but have often thought of having a go with "Bum sex for the over 50s, fruit shoots and benefit cheats" just to get a response! (I know, i'm sad and a very sick puppy) but AIBU is the first place i look when i'm lurking (most nights)

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:28

meow

gaelicsheep · 20/02/2010 23:28

It worked then didn't it?

I was just thinking of posting an AIBU to be p*ssed off at the number of AIBU threads in Active Convos at the moment.

scottishmummy · 20/02/2010 23:29

aibu serves a useful purpose flags up the bulgy eyes foaming at mouth posters and rants in one handy place

so one can ignore or respond
thats why i love it

aibu is the lifeblood of mn that and dm (which is linked near daily despite no one reading it)

hunkermunker · 20/02/2010 23:29

WS, ROFL! Yes, start it

Oh, hello, 2shoes - are you being a cat this evening?

OP posts:
2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:30

well I don't want to be a dog lol

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:30

omg that could be taken the wrong way.....
hello my dear how are you?

hunkermunker · 20/02/2010 23:31

I periodically start a thread having a go at AIBU, btw.

Haven't done one for a while, but haven't really been here for a while. It's got worse though - are there so many people really not sure if they're being unreasonable?

In my day(!), we knew when we were being unreasonable. We just didn't care

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 20/02/2010 23:31

I am well, thank you, 2shoes. How are you?

OP posts:
gaelicsheep · 20/02/2010 23:32

I thought I hadn't seen you around recently. I've got a new name - used to have initials TM and had traumatic b/f experience that I posted about at length on your blog.

DecorHate · 20/02/2010 23:33

Scottishmummy - but MN survived for many years before introducing the aibu topic [oldie emoticon]

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:34

I needd a good old P&t THREAD

gaelicsheep · 20/02/2010 23:34

And I hate the AIBU topic with a passion!

gaelicsheep · 20/02/2010 23:35

You'll have maybe missed the whole WWC thing then hunker? She lurved AIBU.

scottishmummy · 20/02/2010 23:37

ach the good ole days of a nice ham and saying arf/we done that already/search the archives/i'll get the popcorn.happy fucking days

aibu is much more fun, and original.and less ole gimmers going on about mn halycon days of good spelling and no aibu

psychomum5 · 20/02/2010 23:43

ah now see, some people just like the attention.

and some people are just plain bored, and wanna chat, so post the mst boring thing to get that chat, even if they don;t really care what sandwich they are going to have, or which biscuit is the best.

In fact, I would bet half the time they are asking about sandwich fillings even tho they aren;t even planning on having one cos they are sat there with a greggs sausage roll and fruit shoot

TrillianAstra · 20/02/2010 23:59

Hide it then gaelicsheep.

Ah, but you won't, because really you love it and don't want to miss out!

tethersend · 21/02/2010 00:03

I like the trivial ones- 'jam or marmite' will probably end up as a bloodbath by page three.

It's the DH ones I can't stand... "AIBU to be pissed off that DH went out all night and smoked crack with prostitutes?"

Well, no. Clearly, YANBU.

Not much of a fucking discussion though is there?

gaelicsheep · 21/02/2010 22:19

Nah, I don't hide any topics TrillianAstra. You're right, I'd hate to miss out on anything juicy.

SteakAndChips · 23/02/2010 13:35

What's with all the really weird threads? Please tell me they're some sort of social response research?

Lotster · 23/02/2010 13:51

AIBU should be renamed IALFA (I am looking for attention) or AWAF (Anyone want a fight?)

GibbonInARibbon · 23/02/2010 13:59

I know, everyone is an AIBU whore these days. Bring back the good ol' Chat days is what I say.

skihorse · 23/02/2010 14:00

AIBU to think that anyone posting a topic on AIBU should be re-directed to a "Find a Hobby" section upon the pressing of "submit conversation" button?
