To worry that my dp left for the shop two hours ago and he is not home yet.

Shop is a ten minute drive away, he had a list with about ten items on and he is not one to hang around.

I am feeling a bit sick with worry.

He has not taken his mobile.

might he have gone to the pub with a mate?

thehillsarealive · 20/02/2010 21:51

is there any reason you should be worried? Did you have an argument previously or has he done this before?

Anyone you can call to go to the shop to see if he is there. Could he have broken down?

nannynobnobs · 20/02/2010 21:52

My DH will bump into somebody he knows then stand jawing for about 100 years. Is he like that?

fishie · 20/02/2010 21:52

i always find that leaving mobile at home means that dh doesn't bother to tell me where he's gone as he has no phone to do it, not thinking i might actually be wondering as to his whereabouts.

i was quite convinced he and ds were dead once, but they'd gone to look at planes and left phone in car. for 3 hours!

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 21:52

He does not drink and is not the sort to just go for a drink.

We live on our own with no neighbours in walking distance.

He had a headache and does drive too fast sometimes - he would disagree with me on the latter.

No argument.

YANBU, I'd worry in those circumstances. Try to stay calm though. Could he have run into someone he knows and started chatting? Car out of petrol? Flat tyre?

Has he ever done something like this before?

GoddessInTheKitchen · 20/02/2010 21:53

is this usual behaviour for him? if not at all then see if you can get someone to watch the dc so you can go check?

violethill · 20/02/2010 21:53

Getting some fresh air to clear his head?

JaneS · 20/02/2010 21:54

Can you turn on local radio? Maybe there is a traffic jam?

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 21:54

He has never done anything like this before, he is the most reponsible man I know - bar the odd bit of daft driving.

OP posts:
GoddessInTheKitchen · 20/02/2010 21:54

sorry x post how old are dc? could you take them with you? do you have your own car or would you be on foot?

violethill · 20/02/2010 21:55

Could the shop have not had something on the list so he decided to venture further afield? He'd probably have to go some way to find another shop open? He may just have it in his head that he's on a mission.

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 21:55

I will check traffic but he is simply driving up the road to the next town, so I can't imagine there is a traffic jam.

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 20/02/2010 21:55

Gosh, that is a worry, yes

But it could be any number of things- hopefully car trouble? I think I'd ring the local police though in your shoes- they might be able to reassure you.

YanknCock · 20/02/2010 21:55

Was there anything on the list that might have been hard to find? Could he have decided to go to a different shop?

violethill · 20/02/2010 21:56

Look, the chances are most likely that he's fine - there will be some daft reason why he's taking so long. Hang onto that.

GoddessInTheKitchen · 20/02/2010 21:56

yes the police could at least tell you if there had been any traffic jams/incidents

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 21:57

Yes he is shopping for our picnic tomorrow so he could be on a mission. Dd is 8, she has just woken up and is sat with me.

I don't drive so would be on foot which I couldnt do as we are the only house for some distance on a twisty main road with no lighting.

Hes prob fine and will be at you being worried about him .

My Dh has done this before. Just gone to the shop and thought of somthing whilst out or gone to tesco (shop didnt have what he wantes) and stuck in a que .

GoddessInTheKitchen · 20/02/2010 21:58

oh dear, will you ring the police?

GoddessInTheKitchen · 20/02/2010 22:00

i mean he's probably fine but something may have happened to stop him getting home i.e an accident or incident of some kind

JaneS · 20/02/2010 22:00

It's totally reasonable to ring the police non-emergency number, that's one of the things they're there for. Hope he's ok!

verytellytubby · 20/02/2010 22:01

Run out of petrol or broken down?

Hope you hear from him soon. I would worry too.

fishie · 20/02/2010 22:01

oh fine if he is off hunting down food for tomorrow. what sort of of shop is it anyway, supermarket, farm shop?

wastwinsetandpearls · 20/02/2010 22:01

Was about to phone he has just pulled up.

I will count to ten before screaming WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN

Thanks for putting up with me being soft.
