to feel pissed off at the magazine industry publishing a new magazine that has a different part of a model to collect with each issue and its being issued WEEKLY at £3.99????

the first issue was only 99p which i know they always are, its the new dinosour mag which has parts to collect in order to make a HUGE dino model.

i thought at that price £3.99 it would at least be monthly but nooooooooo, its bloody weekly. and its not like you can miss out a few copies every now and then if you cant afford it as you have to collect ALL the parts

not impressed

They do it because people buy them. Simple solution - don't buy!

mummygirl · 19/02/2010 18:01

it's not such a simple solution if you thought it was gonna be monthly and promised it to a kid

spongebrainbigpants · 19/02/2010 18:03

Lol! I thought you meant a model, as in a woman who models clothes!!

These things are a total rip off, don't buy .

spongebrainbigpants · 19/02/2010 18:03

Ooops, sorry just read your last post .

I read it as if it was a model
as in a thin women
I was about to be outraged and then think how funny it would be to see a foot in one issue and then a thigh...

BecauseImWorthIt · 19/02/2010 18:09

But it's not the magazine's fault if you thought it was monthly and it wasn't!

paisleyleaf · 19/02/2010 18:09

I can't imagine getting involved in those magazines.
We had a neighbour who'd built a boat from one. His DW didn't want it around, he didn't want it tucked away as it was a big deal to him. As well as that he made it - that boat had cost him several hundred pounds.
I thought fortnightly was the norm. Weekly is really lot.

TheFoosa · 19/02/2010 18:13

yes, I have an tenth of Billy Bones sitting in my cupboard

Think it said in the small print on advert there were 47 issues- so thats a bloody expensive dinasour. Think what quality toy you could buy for all that cash.

Have you seen the Hello Kitty partwork- each week you get a piece of a Hello Kitty dinnerset- a plate the first week- surely you could buy one of those sets for about £15 but thats about £5 an issue.

My dad has a newsagents shop and people order in these partworks, collect them for so long and then never pick them up after a while as they get bored. My dad can't return them to the suppliers and ends up with loads that people don't pay for plus the customers never come back in the shop again as too embarressed. He will only get them for really reliable customers now.

Another gripe is that they say there is only 'x' amount of issues then they extend it so you have to keep buying or an issue will arrive with something broken on it and it can take months to get a replacement from the suppliers or not at all- pure tat really

absolute rubbish...avoid

the only collections we do is the football cards/sticker albums

My DD has a Dora one. It must have been a present because I'm too tight I wouldn't commit to that many issues. Its good, she still plays with it now, but I bet it was expensive for a doll and a few dressing up clothes.
