to all these people who phone up saying "Hi, my name is James/Matthew/Jennifer" etc with a thick asian accent who are obviously calling from a call centre 1000s of miles away

you ask them a question, like "please tell me the purpose of your call" and they just go back to their script, becasue their language skills are so poor they cannot fend off the unexpected

so bloody annoying!!!

{before i get flamed, am not racist in the least, and appreciate that in some countries it is considered a good job, but GO AWAY)

I had one the other day who introduced himself as "Dean" and for about 10 seconds sounded a bit like a Californian surf dude which made me laugh so much I didn't reply immediately with my standard "I'm pretty sure I don't want to have this conversation with you. Goodbye."
But then his accent lapsed...

If its an obvious cold call I put my 3 yr old son on the phone- he loves to chat to anyone on the phone- works wonders!!!

I also get really annoyed when they can't pronounce my name -its not that hard but when I correct them they CARRY on saying it wrong!!!
