..... the amazingly delicious Vivaldi potato.

Also known as the weight-watchers potato - delicious even without butter. A godsend and I don't even worked for them (tho' willing to be brand ambassador for a fee)

DH has lost 18lbs too! (we're even starting to look thin!)

..or maybe it's because I've stopped BFing (no excuse for DH)

What is that? Just a type of potato or a way to cook them?

Baconsarnie · 17/02/2010 20:53

It's worth a try! Going out to get some tomorrow!
PS Congratulations on the weight loss.

HellBent · 17/02/2010 20:57

Oh this sounds good, congratulations on the weight loss! I have lost around a stone in a month but still need to do more and every little helps

mummygirl · 17/02/2010 21:00

congratulations but

mummygirl · 17/02/2010 21:00

I need some of this potato, what is it?

Saladdays · 17/02/2010 21:36

Stumbled accross them at Sainsbury's. Delicious! Creamy without the need to slather in butter. M&S have some called Chopin ... I suspect they are the same but maybe Sains asked for an exclusive??

Yummy steamed or baked.

Fish poached in lemon and seasoning is my latest investion. Also delicious.

EccentricaGallumbits · 17/02/2010 21:38

Really? am intrigued. I need some. I can't bear another dry baked potato.

navyeyelasH · 17/02/2010 21:52

So what do you do, just eat this potato and nothing else? What do you have on it? I'm confused!

Saladdays · 18/02/2010 08:15

We have the Vivaldi potatoes as part of the meal (with steamed or (lemon juice) poached fish, steamed broc & carrots or a salad. No butter or cheese on the pots - they are yummy enough without.
We've swapped snacks with freshly made popcorn (yum) and dropped bread..... but I actually look forward to having the potatoes!!!

I love these too. Anya (Sainsburys) are nice too. Mmm, potatoes.

Eccentrica, vivaldi are salad-size potatoes, you can't bake them!

gingernutlover · 18/02/2010 09:32

was just doing my online shop and thought i would try these, they do sell baking size ones - 4 for £1 at the moment. I assume they are the same potato as the are called vivaldi.

AccioPinotGrigio · 18/02/2010 09:41

OMG 18 lbs in 7 weeks. What did you do just eat the potato, plain, every day? Please tell me. I have slightly more than 18lbs to drop.

AccioPinotGrigio · 18/02/2010 09:42

Sorry just read the thread and you have explained what you do.

gingernutlover · 18/02/2010 09:46

lol, yeah i was hoping it was a miracle diet! Have ordered some though, sound nice. If i could drop 18lbs i would be very very happy

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2010 09:52

blonde is entrigued - as are the others on mn weight loss thread

this potato really tastes nice without butter, whether mashed/jacket/boiled?

well done on weight loss - thats a fab amount since jan 10

Saladdays · 18/02/2010 10:29

I bake 'em, (even if small - just select the bigger ones), boil 'em and steam 'em. Haven't mashed 'em as I fear the temptation to dollop in butter / cream / milk / cheese would be too much!
(My Dh has lost 22lbs!!).. he's also given up his beloved Stella Artois!

duchesse · 18/02/2010 10:37

I never put butter on my potatoes but am still 2 stone overweight...

navyeyelasH · 18/02/2010 12:09

lunch is always my downfall, a sarnie is always too easy!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 18/02/2010 12:22

I thought you were saying you had started snacking on "dropped bread" and was going to ask why dropping it made it better for you?

WingedVictory · 18/02/2010 14:59

Be careful about the end of breastfeeding, though! You seem to think it keeps the pounds on, but my experience was a sudden increase in weight, as I had got used to eating as I liked! Woe betide me.... You are wise to be seeking Slimmer Spuds!

bibbitybobbityhat · 18/02/2010 15:08

They are indeed lush. Another big fan here. They have a smooth texture, are very slightly waxy, which imvho always makes for a better baked potato.

Estima and Marfona potatoes are similar but not quite as nice.

JaneS · 18/02/2010 15:09

gingernutlover - great! Will try some of the baking ones too then, if they do them in my local.

(have just lost half a stone and struggling with it a bit now!)

Cheappinkfizz · 18/02/2010 15:21

Looks like it's not just the taste, they are lower in calories and carbs too!

They sound too good to be true!

Saladdays · 19/02/2010 13:50

Navyeyelash - I have a chunky / thick soup (no bread ) at lunch - I have to have this early (noonish) or else I start snacking. In fact we have the eve meal pretty early too as we were both chomping on anything that wasn't nailed to the floor around 6pm.
