Is that the shop where the clothes are lit with random tiny spotlights? I think I just stepped in and then straight out again- I could somehow tell there would be nothing for me in there.

A quick Google has revealed that their clothes are for 'Bettys' and 'Dudes'- so I was quite right- really really not for me.

Its like Superdry. I needed ear defenders the other day when I went in.

I think i must be getting old. I did investigate the lighting system instead of the clothes.

I think if you take too long to decide whether you are a betty or a dude, then they don't let you past the poor cow whose job it is to repeat 'Whatsup, Welcome to the pier!' over and over and over everytime somebody comes into the shop.

I went in there once, tried several things on and peered into the mirrors many, many times to try and work out what colour the jumper I was trying on is... I gave up in the end. I even tried going into the fitting room and god, it was as bad in there as it was outside... How on earth are you meant to buy anything when you can't see what it is in the first place? Mind you, all the salesgirls and salesboys were identical, I thought I was seeing double, then triple, then I realised actually they were all different people! At least you could tell they were sales people I guess, at Urban Outfitters (which I happen to like), I can't get anyone to help me as their sales staff are all dressed like shoppers... It's so embarrassing to keep asking people if they can help me only for them to turn round with a blank look saying 'I don't work here...' Arghhhhhhhh!

Just went to the website... The clothes are so hideous... They are for people who think they live on the beach but don't. I never understand why British people/teens go for such 'surfy' clothes when most don't ever have a remote chance of going to one most of the year.

Walked past the store the other day and there was a poor lad stood outside the door dressed only in red swim shorts with one of those baywatch float thingys !!! I also would NEVER dream of going in as I like to check things for flaws etc before I buy rather than trying to get them exchanged at a later date and persuade them that it was actually like that when I bought it !!

From what I can tell from dd and her mates, it doesn't matter what colour/shape/size the clothes are, its the fact they come from Hollister that matters.

Don't worry ladies, I feel the same way, and I'm a young 'trendy' 25-year-old..... (except I'm not very trendy)

I walked past my local store the other day (in Belfast) and there was some poor boy, he looked at 17 and like some Hollyoaks wannabe standing outside with jeans and an unbuttoned shirt on I'm guessing he was a promotional model of some sort.

It's a bit more like a club than a clothes shop. I reminds me a bit of that old game, pin the tail on the donkey, lots of people wandering around half blind trying to find their way.

I used to venture into Hollister for my Dd's clothes when we lived in the US. It was a TINY store made to feel even smaller by the dark lighting!! I could never see anything and only shopped there once!
I also felt like a blimp in there as all the sales staff (well I ASSUME they were the sales staff!) seemed to be size Zero!!! Obviously if you are bigger than a size 6 you should NOT be allowed over the threshold!

I went in (iam 32 btw so not that old) it was awful, i went without dd (she was with her godmum)first there were not any ramps to get into the building so wheelchaires and prams would have a problem (it had a raised wooden decking type surround to it). When i did get in there it was awful, really dark and dingy and could not see what was on sale properly. It was imo tat from what i could see so just walked straight out. will not be going in there again.

i agree with pigletmania wholeheartedly; 32 is not that old.

Apparently they hire people as models rather than shop assistants so they can make sure their staff are gawjuss at all times.

I asked a shop assistant to help me once and he was all arsey that he didn't work there but he was wearing a hollister top and jeans so really couldnt complain!

I went there last November to buy dd a tshirt for Xmas- and asked vacuous but beautiful sales girl if they'd had a power cut.
There was a long queue of menopausal women (like me0 all moaning about the lighting, pokiness etc.
Took dd and friend to Westfield a couple of days ago and left them there for 2 hours.
It is truly the seventh circle of hell for women of a certain age......I felt a sigh of relief going into Gap (even though it is shite, at least I could see the prices)
