...more than a little irritating?

Can't say it's something I had ever thought about.

I find "innit" "like" or "y'know" irritating. Like.

EcoMouse · 17/02/2010 13:10

It's 'innit' masquerading as a real word, IMO.

If the person is from Spain, give them a break. It's totally normal there.

Otherwise irritating. I've picked it up a bit from Spoanish DH and I find it quite irritating in myself. Fortunately my friends just look at me funny when I do it, so I'm quite self-conscious about it and it will die out.

Did you see how I resisted the temptation to put no at the end of my sentence? did you?

Pikelit · 17/02/2010 13:12

Well done. Isn't it?

EcoMouse · 17/02/2010 13:12

X posts but yes, exactly, I find them similarly irritating. Like.

I had to ignore an otherwise reasonably good looking interesting man on a dating site because he "..., no?"'d at me!

I get particularly irritated on here when a sentence is ended in "..., non?"

Pretentious twattery.

TrillianAstra · 17/02/2010 13:26

I prefer to end with n'est-ce pas?

That's French for 'innit'

frakkinaround · 17/02/2010 13:29

I do it. I know it's annoying, it annoys me, but it's something from French which drops into English. Just an automatic construction that slips out.

fedup1981 · 17/02/2010 13:30

Hmm, I think if you are french, or live there, you are probably excused.

serenity · 17/02/2010 13:31

I do it sometimes. I don't care I type the way I talk (except with considerably less stammering and...

pauses)

I do a lot of irritating things on MN apparently. It's a hobby
